About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoy the journey, not just the destination......
ABOUT US
Hard to describe oneself, but here's our list of what we try to be "about"!
We try to:
-Make a difference for good in the world, whether it is with nature or people.
-Leave a place better than we found it.
-Do good, live good, feel good.
-Work hard and play hard
-Enjoy life each day
-Live the Golden Rule: Treat others as we want to be treated
-Be grateful for family and friends
-Be open-minded, easy going and respectful
-Have fun!
My husband (Rusty) enjoys movies, gardening, candy and making people laugh. He can fix almost anything, is a pro at chopping wood (even came in 2nd in a lumberjack contest!) has a great sense of humor, and quick witted replies!
Me (Sheila) loves popcorn, lighthouses and anything nature. Don't ask me for directions or to back up a trailer-you'll get lost and have a broken trailer ;-) I like doing dishes more than cooking!
We are a family-oriented couple who don't drink alcohol or smoke. We do, however, have the "Travel Bug" disease! :-)
PHILOSOPHY
"There can never be enough kindness in the world - and being kind is always rewarding"
"Dreaming is not the same as doing"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Provide a comfortable and safe place for travelers, share whatever we can and be amazed at what we learn from our surfers (and future hosts!)
Having strangers arrive, but leave as friends....
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have mostly hosted and have enjoyed every single experience. We have learned that for us, it's not so much the amount of time we have with our surfers, but what we learn and share, even if it's for an hour or a day. Every one of our 100+ surfers has enlightened our lives in some way.
And our few hosts have been incredible! Our surfing experiences has given us the opportunity to embrace and see how locals live and what they do....something you can only experience with Couchsurfing, and it becomes a highlight of our travels.
