About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To participate in Multiculturalistic Smorgasm & experience the world!

Develop and add contents to my travel blog (http://boardinghappiness.com/).

The site is aimed at travelers & expats for traveling longer, cheaper, and better (or for moving to a new country) and connecting to the deaf communities around the world. Feel free to read and subscribe! It is still work-in-progress!

ABOUT ME

I have always dreamed of traveling around the world and meeting a variety of people from many different cultures and background.

I'm also a scientist and humanist at heart. But really, I dream of becoming a xenothropologist and xenobiologist, exploring and studying different planets and hopefully peaceful extraterrestrial cultures. Oh, and, flying in a space shuttle as well. Maybe I could be the FIRST deaf person in space. ;)

My current traveling goal is to travel all over Europe and other nearby countries, and document my travel experiences/ scoop out the best deals and tips. :)

PHILOSOPHY

"Carpe Diem!"

"Do Things with Passion or Not at All"

"Tough Times Don't Last, Tough People Do"

"Enjoy the Little Things"

"Believe in Yourself"

"Have a Plan B in case Plan A screws up"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

[Note: Not accepting guests at this moment because of upcoming multiple travel plans for this summer & already have accepted guests requests for the upcoming months)

I'm bit of an old hand at using CouchSurfing, but I was inspired by my friend, Jenny Lu (the winner of the a CouchSurfing competition in ~2012) to sign up and join the community!

Couchsurfing is.awesome.like.no.other! Great way to meet and connect to people. I have made so many new friends and connections through Couchsurfing. In fact, I met my current boyfriend through Couchsurfing (and I'm still with him 2 years going strong)! It is a story I can tell you if we meet up in person. :)

I usually host guests multiple times per year, but sometimes they either didn't leave a reference for me or they are not on Couchsurfing (most of my guests came from my other network not on Couchsurfing). Be assured, I've had the experience of hosting and being hosted!

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list out here!!!

I pretty much read anything that captivates my interest. At this moment, I am using books to learn the Italian language. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

*Certified Deep and Nitrox scuba diver at Koh Tao island in Thailand (Dec 2016-Jan 2017)
*Lived in London for few months for my research project for my undergraduate thesis. London is amazing!
*Cliff-jumping and snowboarding with friends in California
*Spending a month traveling in China
*Interned for NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory + California Institute of Technology and saw the Mars Rovers assembled together
*Graduated from MIT with a Bachelor of Science degree....3-4 years of hardcore studying and intense experience but wouldn't trade it for anything else!
*Road trip from Los Angeles, CA to San Francisco, CA
*Partied in Las Vegas with friends for 3 days straight. No Sleep!
*Had the opportunity to go on an astronomy excursion to view live images of Saturn, Jupiter, and the mountains, craters, and bumps on the surface of the Moon through a massive 16 feet long telescope. Oh, and, I played with the meteorite or outer space rocks, including rocks from Mars and the moon.
*Catapulted into the air in a ball at 3g speed (3g = 3 times of the acceleration due to gravity....3*9.8 m/s^2 = 29.4 m/s^2)
*Backpacked all over Italy for 1.5 months and immersed myself into the Italian deaf community all over Italy! (I later decided to move to Italy)
*Cooked and fed yummy Mexican guacamole and tacos to my Italian guests, who never had tacos and guacamole in their life before!
*Delivered two solo presentations to an international audience in international conferences for my undergraduate thesis research

And More Yet To Come.
