ABOUT ME

I understand myself well enough to realize that making any serious attempt at -truly- understanding myself is rather futile, because I will never succeed. I've come to the conclusion that everything in life is odd. Everything: I'm odd, you're odd. The world is odd. God is odd. Life is odd, death is odd- everything. I write far more eloquently than I speak. I am an introvert who absolutely needs human interaction. I love people; I just don't always make it obvious. I am passionate, perhaps sometimes a bit too passionate. I dream too much, and sleep too little. I am inclined to believe that my imagination is sometimes too vivid for my own good.

PHILOSOPHY

Frodo: “What are we holding onto, Sam?”
Sam: “That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.”

Romans 12:21- "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." The numbers are tattooed to my wrist as a constant reminder that no matter what happens, no matter what trials may befall me, I can indeed overcome.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I am still currently an eighteen-year-old high school student living in the basement of my parents' home, it is difficult for me to become fully involved in CouchSurfing while still adhering to their rules. I am hoping, however, to become more active once I graduate, and to become more active still after I move out (god knows when that will be, though).
For now, I am just trying to get acclimated to this site, to these people, and to the whole idea of CouchSurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've really had no experience with CouchSurfing as of this moment (see my description in "How I Participate"). I am hoping to gain experiences as I get older and gain more freedom (from high school, parents, etc).

Interests

Writing is the love of my life (that is, until I finally find a human being who can put up with me long enough to become the love of my life- when that happens, I'll be sure to update this). I primarily write thoughts and oddities within my journals and blogs, but on occasion I will also write stories, poetry, essays (when school demands them of me), etc.

I absolutely love words, and take great joy in pouring through the dictionary; unfortunately, I don't usually remember most of the new words I learn.

I play the piano; I've been playing for nine years. I'm not one of those remarkably gifted pianists, not by any means, but I love playing it regardless, and in the end, I think that's what really matters.

I am deeply interested in people: I love watching people, observing people, listening to people. I may not be the most social person, but gods do I find people inexorably intriguing.

I love going for walks, and I love driving at night. I also seem to have this uncanny interest in picking at scabs.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Lord of the Rings trilogy- the movies, the books, everything. I am hopelessly in love with them.

Apart from that...

I read a lot, but not as much as I wish. When I have time, I will read just about anything.

I enjoy movies, but really haven't seen too many.

I'll listen to almost anything, but am particular fond of Celtic/Irish music and symphonic metal.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly, I've led a fairly unremarkable life thus far. I'm hoping to change that before long, of course.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm open to nearly anything you would like to teach me. I don't believe a person could ever have enough knowledge. If you need an idea.... teach me new words. Words are amazing.

I can definitely teach you how to play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" on the piano.
