About Me

ABOUT ME

I really like meeting new people. But I wasn't always this way. I used to be really really shy. Like wallflower kind of shy. Like omg, please don't walk this way and try to talk to me because I know I will just die kind of shy. Fast forward a number of years and I can't meet enough people! Why the change? Life's too short to sit on the sidelines. This is not to say that I'm into partying and going out all the time. I do on occasion (maybe Wednesday nights at the local place) but I really enjoy just relaxing, watching NCIS, How I Met Your Mother (really wish Will and Grace was still on) and having good conversation and a cup of coffee with a total stranger. Yes, I do need my "me" time but for the most part, one of the great things about hosting people, is I literally don't have to leave my house to meet so many cool people.

I am American born, but my gram is originally from Lithuania and settled in the south side of Chicago. My grandpa's family are Austrian Poles and settled in Johnstown, PA. I grew up with a predominantly Russian/Lithuanian/Polish influence in my home and around many foreigners. I didn't even realize my gram had an accent until I was in my twenties - seriously. I asked my mom if she had an accent and she started to laugh. Apparently it was pretty strong. As a result, I love to hear the sounds of Eastern European languages. It completely reminds me of my childhood even though I don't understand a word of any of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A seriously great way to travel and meet super cool like minded people. Some of my greatest friends I've met through the Chicago couch surfing group.
