About Me
Hello! I'm Shelby! I am making the most of my life by traveling and experiencing as many things as I can to become a better, more understanding, and well rounded person.
I am a huge food and wine nerd. I currently work at a winery and am working on becoming a certified sommelier. I fell in love with wine through travel, and find that is is so fascinating how many aspects food and wine have in relevance to the world. Geography, culture, anthropology, history, SCIENCE! But enough about my foodie love.
I love to be outside and go camping and hiking. Nature is one of the most peaceful places to be, and it is always a wonder to find an area of the world untouched by man and civilization. One of my big goals is to help show how beautiful nature is by photographing landscapes and the world.
I also apply my love of photography to my love of local music. Photographing bands and concerts is a huge passion of mine, but in reality, photographing people in general is a great pleasure. Its always magical when I can capture a person's energy.
Huge film buff, and book worm. You'll probably see my small pile of books I take with me around the world. I love to stay informed on everything, and think reading every day is important.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am couchsurfing because of the wonderful experience I had with it last year. I have made so many dear friends from this website and it is always fun to have friends come stay with me in return.
Last year was a very eye opening year for me. I learned that I cannot let myself live in fear of what ifs in life anymore, and I need to just go out and experience things, find what I am passionate about, and share that with others. I love the deep conversations I have had with many of my hosts to exchange our perspectives on the world and life. It broadens my viewpoint and makes me a more empathetic and understanding world citizen. Its all about personal growth
