About Me

Hello everybody taking the time to read this :) I just want to start off and say thank you for reading my profile. I love each and everyone of you beautiful people who are so gracious to open up their homes and friendship to travelers from all over the world. You are wonderful people and I hope I can repay your kindness in the future when I am able to host travelers myself.

I have a hard time talking about my self because I would much rather learn about you, but I'll give it a shot. I'm a Canadian studying abroad in Germany to further my dreams of being an archaeologist and heritage conservator. I was born in a small town in Canada and then moved to Vancouver for university where I studied archaeology. i moved to Cottbus, Germany in October 2018 to study Masters in Heritage Conservation. I love everything old and I can spend days in museums, and archaeological sites. if you're curious about archaeology and history, or are also in the heritage fields, I would love to talk about these things with you. I'm super passionate about this field and I love discussing history and heritage.

My favourite thing is a good conversation.... and weed. If we have both, then it's the best. I love losing hours and hours in a good conversation. I love the sharing of perspective and information, and the simple joys in meeting a like-minded spirit. There is nothing I love more than connecting with someone through such a wonderful exchange.

I love to dance and will always be willing to party wherever, whenever. I stay for as long as I can because I love the music and I love the feeling and freedom of dance. The right music, at the right place, with the right people is one the greatest things in life. I would love to share this experience with you. I love it so much and love to share my happiness with you.

I am vegetarian and will be cooking a plant based diet. I love all food and was a big meat eater for the first 24 years of my life. While travelling in Granada, Spain, I met some wonderful friends who helped me transition my diet to vegetarian, and it has been one of the best choices of my life. It has changed how I see food and it has brought back my interest in cooking.

I don't like to impose my diet on people, so don't feel obligated to eat vegetarian with me, but, when I cook, it will be meat free. Also, if there is some special dish from your home that you would like to share with me, I am open to experiencing new food even if it contains meat. Food is an important part of culture and I want to experience everything I can when I travel.

Most importantly, I love people, culture and humanity. I want to learn as much as I can when I'm alive because I believe that sharing our knowledge with each other is the best way to grow and improve.

I strive to be a better person tomorrow than I am today.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing to make friends in different countries and to explore cities with the beautiful people I meet. I have traveled quite a bit and have found the worst times of my travels was when I was alone in an empty hostel. I joined couchsurfing to remove that possibility and to meet people to learn and grow from.

I believe that the world is meant to be explored and shared with the beautiful people you meet along the way. I love nothing more than meeting interesting, fun, wonderful people and sharing our experiences and perspective. I believe that the exchange of energy and information we get when meeting new people is one of the great joys of life. These exchanges are also great moments to learn about different perspectives, points of views and life. We are always learning and I want to learn from each and every one of you amazing people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done happened to me in Vanuatu, an island country in the South Pacific close to New Caledonia and Fiji. I traveled to the island Tanna and stayed with villagers and slept in a tree house. The villagers had only generators for light and so there was no light pollution. The first time I saw the Milky Way and the billions of stars changed my life. never had I felt so small and inconsequential. It was a beautiful and humbling moment for me as I stared at the infinite beauty of space and came to the realization of how tiny and fragile we are in the context of the universe.

That wasn't the only thing amazing that happened to me on Tanna. The island is home to an active volcano named Yasur that plays an extremely important role as a gaurdian spirit of the Island. He is a powerful spirit who created the island and the people of Tanna revere his power and the volcano is a sacred place that demands respect. I was lucky and was able to visit Yasur and see his power up close. The lava plumes that erupted from Yasur were the most beautiful acts of nature I had ever seen. I stayed on the rim of Yasur for hours captivated by the natural fireworks and beautiful displays of nature. Words cannot do it justice. it is truly one of the greatest things a person can ever see.

This happened in the summer of 2014 and I still haven't experienced a greater individual moment in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I love to teach people about archaeology and history. I know some parts of both and if anyone wants to learn I would love to share what I know. I am by no means an expert, but I can still talk for hours on all things archaeological and historical.

I am a native English Speaker and am very confident in my grasp of the language so, if anybody wants to practice their English, I love nothing more than to talk and help you with learning English.

Learn: Whenever I travel I always want to learn everything I can from the people I meet. I love to discuss politics, religion, culture, art, and the history of whatever country I'm in. I ask too many questions sometimes, and I hope I don't annoy people. I'm a curious person and always want to learn new things so whatever you decide to share with me I would love to hear it.

I am quite bad with learning languages, but if I can at least learn how to say "sorry", "thank you", "excuse me", and "my name is" that would be wonderful.

Share: I can share with you my cooking, cleaning and respectfulness, dad jokes, friendly conversation, Canadian facts, love of ice hockey and football and archaeology, my favourite artists, my sense of humour, my cleaning, fun facts, and most importantly my friendship.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with you whatever you would like. I want to improve on sharing and giving, and I see couchsurfing as a great opportunity to improve.

I can share with you my politeness, my food, my cooking, my cleaning skills, my personal philosophy on life, my jokes, my love of all things historical, my clothes, my toothpaste, high fives, my love of music, art, television, movies, books, my weed (if I can find some) and, most importantly, hugs and love.

I am learning to cook and will buy and cook food for you, or we can cook together. I don't have that much experience in the kitchen so please don't expect a gourmet meal, but I want to learn and improve and we can share a cooking experience together. Sadly, Canada doesn't have many traditional foods that I can share with you, but I can make vegetarian poutine for you. It's soooo good :)

If you want to learn English better I can help you practice. I really enjoy helping people learn and improve so please don't be afraid to ask questions.

Also, if you want to learn anything about archaeology, I would love to teach you whatever you want to know. I love talking about this field, if you didn't already realize. So please, ask me whatever you want to know, and I'll talk to you about it, and if I don't know it, I will look it up to tell you about it.

I want to be a great guest and to share with you anything I can. Please don't be afraid to ask me for anything. I believe in treating others as you treat yourself and want to be as friendly, courteous and respectful guest I can be.
