Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Shellene, like Jolene with a 'Sh' (yes I have sang that karaoke song) - originally from Colorado but being that annoying digital nomad and traveling to different countries this year.
I knew I enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone at an early age, and decided to take a semester off of school just to backpack South America - my parents had many sleepless nights, but it was one of the best experiences to date. Happy to tell you more of my personal narrative vs. the one you see blasting on every news headline.
At the end of the day, I'm a simple person but not boring. I don't need the thrills of being somewhere luxurious (no hate if you like that!) - a great night for me is cheap beers at a dimly lit bar with good music and conversation.
I will be traveling to London this September 23rd - 30th, and then living in Oaxaca, MX after that.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Everyone has a story, and I want to hear it. I love to meet new people and experience their life for a moment.
I also am very friendly, and could probably talk to a rock. I believe that meeting up with a person who actually is a local, will allow you to do/experience things you never would as a 'tourist'.
Interests
The outdoors; hiking, kayaking, camping!
Food; I love to eat, honestly think about eating more than I probably should
Live music; you can't really find me at a club, but I'm a sucker for some live music at a small bar/venue

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I have a range of music I like, anything from 90's RnB to Bluegrass. Some of my favorite bands right now are Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Mt. Joy, Caamp, and FKJ.
Movies: I strangely never watch movies, I'm kind of a show gal but I enjoy a good thriller/mystery (Knives Out) or a Comedy
Books: just like my music, also a wide variety - Nightingale, The Glass Castle, The Great Alone...unpopular opinion I'm not a Colleen Hoover fan.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiked 4 days to La Ciudad Perdida or the Lost City in Colombia.
(and no I did not get kidnapped in Colombia)
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn another language/ become fluent in the ones I already know.
I want to live other cultures and experience different traditions.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share travel tips, stories (even embarrassing ones), and laughter.
