Lovely to meet you, I'm Shel. I'm deeply interested in literature, language, irony, and nuance. Currently on leave from uni, I've been frequenting the roads of Shanghai by myself and meeting local personalities along the way. It might sound a lot, but it never feels that overwhelming during the moment. Those I call 'the lulls.' Moments include standing on a semi-empty subway, taking a drunk someone's arm to a taxi, reloading Weixin Pay, and walking home: In Search of a Mood.

I don't like the lulls because they make me nauseous. Lulls are quiet and I am always in echoes, which means I turn the volume up from my favorite Arctic Monkeys album, Suck It and See.

So I turn to Google Docs and letters to remind myself to 'write the notes but live otherwise.' To stay in the present and sit with the feeling.

This is me being still.

I tattoo sometimes! I speak a bit of French and I'm learning Chinese. And I'm always half-joking in person, even when I'm serious. I read a lot and have attempted self-publishing.
