About Me

Wandering, hitching, cave-surfing and hammocking my way through the back-lands, always on the lookout for drop-bears.

Originally from the misty white isles of Aotearoa, the Shere-Khan is a wandering hammock-maker. Too useless at entrepreneurship to scrape a living out of selling jungle hammocks to wealthy North Americans, she is now at large on the streets subjecting natives and foreigners alike to highly inappropriate adjective genders and verb conjugations, sleeping between palm trees, sampling local delicacies and inciting dissent and anti-capitalism in the international business scene at every opportunity. Recently she sailed across the Atlantic and is currently roaming the Caribbean in search of heavenly mangoes, passionfruit and soursops.

She adores art of all kinds, swimming, exploring, discussion, tropical rainforest, deserts, rivers, oceans, mountains, animals, arabic pastries, massage, Monty Python, rewilding dairy farms, alternative energy and hitchhiking as a way to open the mind and build solidarity amoungst the somnambulist masses.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have met so many beautiful, beautiful people through here.

Interests

Running around like a lunatic when I think no one is watching, befriending dragons, playing music, concocting culinary delights, climbing inappropriate objects, hammocking in unexpected places, camping, tramping, improv theatre, sailing, writing, good literature, and ants. Also, history, poetry, making films, doodling, cult cinema, building and making things, rock climbing, canyoning, being at the top of tall trees, beachbumming, permaculture design, gardening and occasionally fighting people with pointy sticks. (fencing, nothing dodgy)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every day is bloody amazing

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're into banjos, I'm traveling with one, so we could jam or I could teach beginners a bit of music. For anyone who wants to improve their English, I can help you. I can also teach you Spanish or some basic necessities in a few handfuls of other languages. I can show people several different ways to make a hammock, how to travel no-budget, how to get started with growing some organic food in a sustainable and low maintenance fashion, how to be a safe and successful hitchhiker, how to make delicious nutritious plant based food and how to stare down a shark while snorkeling. I love cooking together with people. I'm learning music, yoga, theatrical improvisation, bush survival skills, foraging for wild foods, inspiring ways of farming, about local history and folklore legends.

What I Can Share with Hosts

An unbiased ear to drown your sorrows in. Semi-decent company. The chance to win a free hug. Maybe some tasty food as a bribe. Stories spun of moondust and desert sands. The opportunity to sing me to sleep. Career, travel, romantic, political, gardening, psychological and existential advice. A poem or a painting on a piece of driftwood. Eternal friendship if I like you enough. All the wisdom of my young and tender heart. Perhaps a mexican carpet or two? They're going cheap tonight!
