About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I feel like I should have made more mistakes in my life.
So at the start of 2015, I took a leap of faith and made some major changes in my personal life. Soon after, my adventures began, and I started making some remarkable mistakes, and am only too happy to see my life leap forward with huge momentum.

My mission is to see the world through different eyes, to live in places that inspire me, to learn and experience as much as I can from those I cross paths with, to redefine home, to be of service to people, and most importantly, to keep making mistakes. Eventually, I hope – I hope this will help me understand myself better, and ultimately, realize myself.

ABOUT ME

I’m a lucky girl. I have loyal friends and a family to die for. Whether they know it or not, both my parents, two brothers and life partner are very inspirational in their own ways. There is, and always has been, so much love in our home.

I am Egyptian! Born and raised in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. I find great joy in almost everything I do, but I am happiest when: I’m out of my comfort zone trying and learning new things, and then on the other end of the spectrum, practicing the art of delicious idleness, or as the wonderful people of Italy refer to it ,“Dolce Far Niente” – the sweetness of doing nothing.

Adrenaline is wonderful, and no question about it, I’m always after some sort of a rush. Probably the biggest rush for me is meeting new people and sparking meaningful connections.

I have a profound appreciation for rawness. This world is so guarded and fearful, that I think I fall in love with anyone who shows me a bit of their soul.

PHILOSOPHY

Somehow, we are all connected, and accordingly, affected. And so I try to live my life with an open heart and a passionate mind.

On Travelling:
“There is definitely a charm to planting roots, but I fear my own complacency. You can’t be lazy when you have an expiration date. I have met so many wonderful people and I’ll miss my friends, but that’s the trade off — we die at the end of this and there is so much left to still see and learn" - James.

On Life:
نجيب محفوظ : لا تخبروني عمن يكرهني أو يتكلم عني ، أتركوني أحب الجميع ، وأظن أن الجميع يحبني.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do enjoy every minute spent in different cities I call home. I want to share this joy with people traveling where I am. Always looking forward to give travelers some special and unforgettable memories like my hosts did.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A complete stranger introduced me to the world of CS in March 2015. One month later, we were backpacking China, and I had the honor of surfing my first couch with a very special host in Hong Kong. It was like discovering resonance. I then decided to be a host myself, upon landing back home.

Currently Planning : 1- The Silk Road, 2- Egypt to South Africa

Interests

Trying new things. Getting lost in people and places.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can enjoy all genres of music - it just depends on my state of mind at a given moment. Very fond of world cinema. Always loved to read and be transported to other realities. One of my favourite books is Man's Search For Meaning, by Viktor Frankl.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Though it's not often, I'm always amazed when I am able to have significant connections with people I have only just met. And whenever our thoughts and affections are being matched, it feels like the stars had suddenly aligned.

Level of Amazing: ★★★★★

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach you Arabic and some bellydancing moves :) I hail from Egypt so that makes me an expat in the emirates, however, I was also born and raised in the UAE, so that makes me a local too! - in other words, I can share some unique insights with my guests who are interested to know about life in that part of the world.

Would be cool to learn more about: breathwork, chess, how to cook at least one thing exceptionally well (the best version of a certain dish), giving a superb massage, changing a car tire :)

Countries I’ve Visited
