I'm a 30-year-old mom who loves learning about the world through books, travel and music. I have a bachelors degree in education and I very much enjoy being around children. I taught middle school math for two years...absolutely loved it. For the last five years, I have worked from home as an operations manager for a healthcare company. I'm not an incredibly social person but I am easy to talk to and love listening to other people's life stories. I love learning about what makes other people tick, how they have come to where they are in life today. I wasn't exposed to many different cultures and beliefs growing up in a very small town (less than 800 people) in the middle of southern Missouri, but I strive to be an open-minded person, accepting of people from all walks of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to Couchsurfing myself but I have stayed with a couple of different surfers with a friend while traveling in South America. I had such an enriching experience with both of them! They were far more helpful and generous than I could have dreamed and I'm here because I eventually want to give that back to other travelers who might enjoy the little slice of the world I call home.

Interests

My son, Tate, is a very active ten year old boy who keeps me busy most of the time. He loves playing all kinds of sports -- winter basketball, spring and summer baseball and football in the fall. I love being a boy mom and helping him practice. He's by far my #1 "interest". Aside from that, I love traveling. We have a goal of visiting all 50 states before he graduates from high school and I'm proud to say we're already about halfway there. I love driving so long road trips are perfect for us. I've only been out of the country with other people but I'm looking forward to the day where I take on solo travel. While at home, though, I love reading, woodworking, home improvement/DIY projects, crafting and cooking.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music! I was born and raised in the Midwest so country music is what I grew up with but my favorite genre is probably reggae. My son and I enjoy going to the movies together. I love a good romantic comedy but I especially love movies/shows on how things are made. I read quite a lot. Liane Moriarty is currently my favorite author. Open to book suggestions, always!
