About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to find someone with a story to tell!!

ABOUT ME

i am almost completely fearless, even in situations where it makes no sense to be fearless. i think i have come to thrive on not knowing exactly what will happen next.

PHILOSOPHY

*hot tamales are proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
*"inside the box" is dangerous. destroy the box.
*cultural blind spots allow us to learn about ourselves, maybe more so than learning about others.
*the greatest thing a human being can do is not lead, but serve.

Music, Movies, and Books

current musical obsession? african tribal drums and classic jazz.
i collect antique books, whether their topic interests me or not.
i watch war movies and historical documentaries like a salty old Western Civ professor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

my favorite memory of my journey through life thus far takes place in Mazatlan, during the mardi-gras festival Carnaval - i met a man who was homeless and an alcoholic and was left by his wife and daughters. i was offering him free food and coffee at our house up the road, but he smiled and pointed to the case of beer in his hand and said "i dont need coffee, i've got this." i looked at him, in all seriousness, and said "you know that thats not what youre looking for." and he STARED back at me, threw his beer over the wall into the ocean, and fell to his knees in front of thousands of people. he began to wail and weep and cry and tell me of the pain in his life, how he was hopeless, god had forgotten about him, his life was worthless. i spent the next two hours with this man, in front of thousands of party-goers, telling him that he was wrong - he was not forgotten. he walked away a changed man, i believe.
