About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Climb a V10, do a 540 hook kick, get a phd, never die.

ABOUT ME

My name is Steven Hickson. I am a Computer Engineering Student at Clemson University. I currently work as a Test Engineer at company called Itron for an internship that I repeat a couple of times.

I love to climb, bouldering mostly but also some sport climbing. If anyone ever needs a couch to surf on to climb somewhere in the area or someone to climb with, you are welcome to sleep on my couch.

I love most martial arts, especially Tae-Kwon-Do and jujitsu. I practice them both still. If anyone ever needs a couch to surf on to go to a tournament somewhere in the area, you are welcome to mine.

I love the band Two Gallants. I like most music really, but I especially like this band. If you like it, you are almost always guaranteed a place on my couch. Anyone who stays with me is encouraged to show me random music so I can expand my harmonic horizons, if you play your own that's a plus too!

To add to the loving music; I love books and movies also. I'm always looking to expand my collections. I love to read, I have a small library of about 400 books. My favorites are some classics. I love movies; I have about 2.5 TB or so of movies. It's alot. I also have a HD projector and a 7ft x 7ft projector screen so if you stay here, you will probably be subjected to movies.

If you are just a cool person, or just need a place to stay, I can probably give you a place to sleep too. I hope to be able to travel a lot also and crash at some places and make some friends.

I'm all kinds of agnostic, but you are completely free to practice whatever type of religion/belief system you wish to, as long as it doesn't involve the destruction of my property/friends (so no human sacrifices!!).

I'm an Eagle Scout. I love camping/hiking/backpacking/kayaking/canoeing/cliff-jumping/everything outdoors.

I love programming, especially with OpenCv and cameras. If you want to discuss programming stuff, or learn or discuss OpenCv, or expand my programming horizons, I'm always up for that. I have some really crazy/1984-like side projects that vary quite differently depending on when you may visit.
Right now I'm :
Building a steam boat
Building a robotic bartender, almost done!!
Writing some interesting camera surveillance programs, they are creepy.

I'm sure there are more things about me I could ramble about, but you will have to meet me because this is too much to type.

PHILOSOPHY

Have fun!!!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't done anything with CS yet. But I'm hoping to both host people and travel and meet others.

I've crashed on couches of friends and had friends crash on my couch, but never someone I haven't met. I look forward to trying the experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have broken 5 boards (each 1 sq ft thick) with a side kick before (5 inches thick of wood). Never quite achieved 6, but there is still time.
I'm a black belt.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach lots of random, esoteric things that you may or not ever use.

Right now I think it would be cool to learn to juggle. Be wary though, I will have focused on something else before I finish typing . . . Hmmm being able to back flip would be cool.
