About Me

CURRENT MISSION
See as much of the world as possible. Not as a tourist but as the locals see it and live it. Find my meaning, learn, grow, give. Make a difference - the dream is for the mark I leave behind wherever I go to be a positive one and to one day turn something, somewhere, somehow around for the better in a way that has a ripple effect :)

ABOUT ME
As you probably gathered from the above I'm a hippie at heart - I love just going with the flow, travelling, seeing new things, meeting new people, learning new things, just enjoying life for what it is and hopefully finding a way to add a few extra smiles to people's faces along the way.

PHILOSOPHY
-“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems.”
- “Ships in harbour are safe but that’s not what ships are for.”
- “When we treat people merely as they are, they will remain as they are. When we treat them as if they were what they could be, they will become what they should be. ”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When you see a place as a tourist you don’t really see the place. You see one pretty, but small, window. Reality happens outside the view of that one window. The true value of travelling is not the places you go or the sights you see, it’s the moments you live and the friendship you share. I believe you see more, learn more and understand more in even a day of living or sharing with a local than you do in a week wandering as a tourist.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Well I’m new to couchsurfing so still getting my head around how it works but I’m hoping to be able to connect with people through couchsurfing so that I can connect with locals while travelling and make awesome friends instead of just sticking to the tourist trail. When I go home to Sydney (or Madrid where I’ll be living for a year) hopefully I can do the same for others and share with travellers who come to my city.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteer for 3 months in Colombia. It was life changing from the international friends I made, to the adventures we shared (sleeping under the stars on a tropical beach, cliff-jumping, visiting an indigenous village, the carnival of Barranquilla..) to the working with Down Syndrome children who taught me so much humility and showed me perspectives I had never considered before. It's easy to live in a bubble but there's so much more out there - some things we've never had the chance to see, some that we close our eyes to, some that we've never taken the effort to understand and it's the simple kindnesses that make a difference...

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Martial arts and gymnastics basics, piano basics, help you out if you’re learning or want to improve English, basics of Spanish/Japanese/Telugu, anything else you would be interested to learn if I know anything about it

Learn: Spanish, Japanese, French, Hindi, Swahili, Arabic, Guarani or really any language, how to play the guitar, different cultures and traditions, how to cook, I’d probably be interested in almost any new ideas or skills you would be able and willing to teach me :)
