About Me

This is my REAL motivation letter when applying for jobs:

To whom it may concern:

If you read my CV, you would see that my name is Silvia Perdiguero. You would have my picture, my details, and different ways to contact me. I would be a lot of letters in your screen, or in a paper; some dates, some numbers, a smiling face.

But I am more than that.

You would read:
"Excellent communication skills in Spanish, English and Basque, developed throughout a career in, first, international media (BBC in Northern Ireland, EITB and Vocento in Spain, TeleMedia in Hungary, EuroParlTV in Brussels, etc) and then in teaching and facilitation (Theatre of the Oppressed, The Art of Hosting Conversations that Matter, etc).

A brilliant team player with proven organisational skills enhanced through different social action projects, delivered workshops on several topics and voluntary work in Northern Ireland, China, Kenya and Morocco"

But I am much more than that.

I enjoy reading a good book and trying to write one myself. I believe that comics are the summum of Story-telling. I have my own religious beliefs. I consider laughing the best sport ever. I miss my friends and family since they are all scattered all over the world. I love singing and I am a part time busker. I like rainbows because, as all the good things in life, you can not have them without rain. Cooking relaxes me. I can read tarot cards. My favourite movies are the Japanese horror ones, and I hate romantic comedies. Even when I moved countries for love.

I am a real person. I do exist. And I do want my existence to be meaningful.

I am full of dreams, of hopes, of bleeding scars. I am looking forward working towards the creation of a lot of wonderful memories to share with my grandchildren in the future. I am a passionate, hard-working girl; out-going, open-minded, creative. Active, versatile, and willing to experience all the things that life can bring. Anywhere, anytime.

I became an educator and a social worker because I happen to be from the Basque Country, and I spent a while living in Northern Ireland. I have seen enough of people hating each other just because. I had received racial abuse for not being a local and for my English not being pristine. I am fed up of that. I want to help changing it. I want to make people understand that under our coloured skin, we all have the same heart.

I realised I learned more by travelling and interacting with people than at university. Even when I have a degree in Communication, I always found listening to different people's stories much more interesting than listening to random arrogant teachers who never left the country before. Travelling made me become more understanding, patient, helpful and wiser.

To this project I can offer my smile and my hard work, my friendly personality, my lack of prejudices, my sensible and sensitive mind and my weird sense of humor.

So, if that is enough, I would love to work in your team.

Yours faithfully;

Silvia

Music, Movies, and Books

Im fascinated by any type of art and cultural expression, specially if it is related to story-telling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having the balls to pack all my belongings and leave, completely alone and in the middle of the night, a job that was not what it seemed - me being in an unknown continent, everything being different, not knowing anyone and not speaking the language, and hence tailoring my own life; got a job after another till I found one I love, got a place to live, got awesome friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you that is always better to try than being numb. If you have tried your best, sometimes is good to be sad for a loss, a defeat, a disapointment, a heartache. If you feel sadness it means that you still feel - so you´re still alive, you tried, no need to regret, it is already more than what people usually dares to do.

...and from you, Im willing to learn whatever you want to teach me. I will probably learn from you anyway, even if you are not aware of it, because we are not usually aware of the impact that we cause in others.

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Laos, Morocco, Netherlands, North Korea, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam
