CURRENT MISSION
make time to see the world
ABOUT ME
I am in my second year practicing law as a family law attorney. l love meeting new people especially when I'm playing soccer, salsa dancing, or enjoying a good beer. I spent two years doing AmeriCorps in Austin TX between college and grad school. I really miss working with kids (especially when I am stuck between the pages of my law books). Fortunately, I'm also got a degree in social work so I've gotten the chance to work at a bunch of cool non-profits over the past few years. I'm also really interested in policy- I spent one spring during law school working in the Texas Capitol during the legislative session. No experience could match that one!I have lived in Houston for the majority of my life, but have managed to get out and about around the world and the US. Houston is a great city with a great CS community and I look forward to showing you around.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have couch surfed with Jan in Prague, Liesi in Vienna, Pradeep in London, stayed on couchsurfer Antonello's farm in Pescosolido, Italy, with Shannon and Jake in Virginia, and a host of hospitable CSers on my solo trip to Chile in 2012. They were all wonderful hosts and I hope to see everyone in Texas sometime.
I've hosted a slew of lovely guests from Turkey, Scotland and Germany and the States. All have been great experiences and can't wait to host more in the future.
I also attended a CS meet up in Prague which was such a neat way to talk to other travelers. I hope to participate in this way in Austin/Houston.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed for the first time in Europe. I had heard really great things about CS, but was still nervous about actually trying it out myself. Couchsurfing was the best part of my trip. It was so nice to feel like I had a home in the house of (once) strangers on the other side of the world. I am still amazed by the generosity of my hosts. It was so neat to personalize each country I visited by spending time with people who lived there and shared similar ideals of traveling and making the world a smaller place.
I'm also grateful to all my hosts in Chile in 2012 who made my first solo international trip a success.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Power of One-excellent book and inspiring.
I love movies of all kinds and consequently I love listening to movie soundtracks.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
walking on a glacier in Alaska
getting swept up into a salsa rueda with a bunch of teenagers in a club in Havana
watching the excitement in a child's eyes when they finally figure out
how to put sounds and letters together to read words!
deserted beach in Chepu, Chiloe, Chile.
Standing at the top of Cerro Machu Pichhu- felt like being on top of the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you are a struggling reader, I'm pretty good at teaching first graders how to read in Spanish :)
I'm not a great cook myself, but I'm great at following recipes and love to share the experience of cooking something new and tasty with others.
I would love to learn to surf one day. And sign language!
