About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be Okay

ABOUT ME

I'm vegan and into cooking/baking. I used to do drugs and drink a lot, but now I focus a lot on clean living. (I have a casual relationship with drugs/drinking... But I've mostly lost interest.) I don't like when social interaction is centered around mind altering substances so much anymore, I want to explore myself and the world with a clear mind, and I look forward to other people who understand what I mean.

I'm really into the squat movement and squatters. Equalitarian rights, in support of the LGBT and DIY communities. Caring about strangers, honest honest living, and that kind of thing. Also interested in art and music, poetry, coffee - tea. Getting over fears and trying to get more comfortable. In the future I hope to focus more on working with humanitarian efforts, and spending more time travelling/hiking with my dog.

I worked full time running a hostel seasonally for a coupke of years. Then for a few years I made my living singing (without accompaniment) on the streets in Barcelona. Then I was the assistant to an established artist opening a gallery. Then I worked with a private delivery service. Now I am occupied helping my older brother recover from a very serious accident he had while serving over seas. I hope to be getting back to my dog and life in Spain by the beginning of 2016.

Eventually I also hope to work on some experimental acoustic music with people I feel good chemistry with. I hope to find more interesting communal environments to live in... I have equipment and do dotwork (stick and poke) tattoos for interexchanges, trades and gifts to friends (the equipment is sanitary of course.) So far I only make simple designs, but I've done about 15 little tattoos for friends so far.

I used to recycle most all of my food, clothes and things. Now I recycle a lt less, but I'm still intrerested and want to hang out with other creative garbage lovers. I'm also very interested in connecting with old friends and meeting friends of friends.

A big part of my life is my dog, who is a Belgian Sheperd named Pewjo (pronounced Poo-show)who will be travelling with me hopefully soon (early next Spring if things go as planned.) He's calm, friendly intelligent and often complimented on being extremely well trained. Some amazing friends have been caring for him on and off while I care for my brother. I love them all very much.

PHILOSOPHY

"I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center."
-- K. Vonnegut

"The nine-to-five is one of the greatest atrocities sprung upon mankind. [...]"
-- C. Bukowski

"If you are losing your soul and you know it, then you've still got a soul left to lose."
-- C. Bukowski

"The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over."
--Hunter S. Thompson

Also, to sum it all up in a nutshell, look up FiShHeAd's "Genius in The Crowd" by Bukowski, on youtubes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm notorious for having as many guests as I can fit into my space, and have been inviting people to the different squats I've lived in for the past couple years, albeit mostly without official use of CS. Soon I plan to get back to surfing, and see where it takes me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Pretty extensive. Using CS website and also through organic meetings in the streets or at parties. I often use CS by receiving invites from people after posting in their city forums or by using the Emergency Request forums. I also like finding travel companions with the help of CS, so far I've had really great experiences.

Interests

Body modifications, vinyls, ukuleles/kazoos/toys-as-instruments, music by means of snapping/slapping/clapping/breathing and whistling... squats, DIY, intentional living, living without money.
Raves and ravers (...a few years ago I was really into it... but I'd still be up for it if an invitation is ever tempting enough.) Learning more about tattooing, working more with art and writing, hopefully getting involved with a construction project sometime in the near-ish future. I also cut hair in weird designs for people, and rip apart/ redesign recycled clothes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Modest Mouse, and Cocorosie. Blackbird Raum, Macklemore. Lots of rap and folk punk, and indie music. I like a lot of hardcore electronic music like frenchcore, hardtek, darkpsy, and breakcore. I also like acoustic, folky, experimental, ethnic musics. Really, theres a large range, lets talk about it.

T.S. Elliot, spoken word poetry. George Orwell. The Palmwine Drunkard. Hemmingway.
African and middle eastern litrature have been holding my interest a lot lately. I'm always trying to become more well read.

I like a wide range of different types of movies but mostly have a collection of films from the early 40's to 60's. I like watching movies and reading books based on suggestions from friends. I think of the past couple years the best films I've seen have been Cloud Atlas, Interstellar and Hugo. Favorite director overall is probably Jim Jarmusch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing is relative. I live free, that's amazing enough.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sharing I seek, Learning I can't avoid, Teaching happens accidentally.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope to experiment more with vegan cooking and show people that vegan food can be really interesting. I also want to collaborate artistically and musically. We can share nice times.
