About Me

Originally from Poland, currently staying in US until I change my mind.
UPDATE SUMMER 2024:
I have in fact changed my mind. I'm currently taking a sabbatical until the end of 2024, at which point I intend to move to Norway. I've got a bunch of countries I intend to visit, looking forward to making new connections!

My long term life goal is to visit every wonder, city state, and capital featured in Civilization 5 game. I've been making a very good progress, if You're interested in monitoring, find me on insta: Shoangachi.

In the beginning of 2020, scheduling and vacation changes at my job made me realize I don't really have much time to travel, and simultaneously this is the most time I'll ever have to do so while being paid. Therefore I challenged myself to be away something fun every weekend possible. I've successfully traveled outside of Midwest for every spare weekend up to Covid. I've resumed travels after Covid, this time utilizing every vacation day possible for going somewhere new.

I really enjoy playing boardgames and listening to ethnic music. Alone I usually read books or play PC games, though less so recently. Outside I enjoy small hikes and camping. I absolutely love skiing, canoeing and cliff jumping. Time permitting, I'll try to relearn windsurfing. Other than that I'm very open to new experiences.

Currently (2023) back on CS after pandemic and few technical issues.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet influential people to learn new perspectives. But also because the couch surfing community is just great. I've been lucky enough to always enjoy all the hangouts, events and stays I've been involved with.

For a while there have been no events going on in Madison, I got annoyed and decided I want to restart them. I was lucky to find another Surfer with the same desire, and we hosted a small, but cozy social event. This turned into a regular monthly meetup (over a year of events now!). Seeing new faces, temporary travelers, and surfers turned friends during those meetups makes me just so happy and feel like a part of a wholesome community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got to organize a fabulous Couch Crash in Madison with an amazing group of people. And this was my first ever Couch Crash experience too! Next year shall be even better.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't really have any special fun skills, but I can always exchange stories and life perspectives. I want to learn about You, Your life goals and views. I've met many people who's ideas have been quite influential on me and am always looking out for more new prespectives.
