About Me

I am an adventurous outdoorsy and artsy California girl who has spent a lot of time traveling. I’ve just returned from a year in Latin America, backpacking but also working on a freelance project exploring and writing about Jewish communities. (My field is Jewish non-profit community building and I have a degree in journalism.) Anyway I’m here because I love meeting new people, my favorite part about traveling is bonding with diverse people, building genuine and deep friendships across the world. I’m the most happy when i can learn something new, dancing, having silly adventures, or just sitting around having great conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just think its a beautiful concept, to enter a situation where you genuinely just want to get to know each other and help each other out however you can. Even just through the hangouts, I’ve met wonderful people who opened my mind to new things. I feel like we became not just new friends but amazing influences on each other’s experiences.

Interests

Hiking, camping, climbing, swimming, kayaking, biking, surfing, and every other outdoor activity. Dancing, all kinds. Writing. Jewelry making, (I make wire wrapped stone and clay earrings), and generally every art form. I also like to talk about culture, history, politics, social issues, philosophy, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to basically anything... from rock and indie pop to folk/bluegrass to Lizzo.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At age 18, from an ad I saw online, I went to Ugandan slum for "photojournalist internship" at a “micro-finance organization” that ended up not really existing.

I’ve also worked on farms in France and Spain, studied in Copenhagen, led tour groups in Israel, traveled Cuba for journalism, and hitchhiked/backpacked around South America.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some basic POI flow arts! (See image of me fire spinning, I travel with my colorful glow balls.) If you happen to be interested, I can also teach a lot about Judaism. I’d love to learn anything and everything, especially about other cultures, religion, history, communities, etc. My favorite things to share are probably good stories and funny dance moves.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Other than POI, judaism, good stories, silly dance moves? I can cook for you/help you cook, (I’m not a GREAT cook but I enjoy cooking). I have successfully taught a few people to do a cartwheel. I also have a degree in English if you want help there.
