ABOUT ME

I am a doctoral student who studies fairy tales and food motifs here in Chichester through the Sussex Centre for Folklore, Fairy Tale, and Fantasy! I am also - wait for it - a LEGIT PRINCESS. No, only sort of, I dress as a princess and a fairy for children's parties. =P But it is a charmed life I lead!

I love fairy tales, musicals, books, writing, singing, photography... and I am always up for trying some new hobby and possibly not completing it (the scatter-brained mind of a writer!). But I am ever optimistic and passionate despite that!

PHILOSOPHY

To borrow from Nietzsche, I want to live my life as a work of art; to know that if I had to live it again, I could do so happily. But I also know that sometimes, it takes a little longer to get the things you want, and if the juice is worth the squeeze... go for it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couch-surfed in Germany and Switzerland with my friend Diana. It was an amazing experience. I hosted a little bit in Cambridge and Tucson, but now I'm in Cam again and haven't had anyone at the new place yet! Having couch surfers around gives me an excuse to be a tourist in the place I live. =)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Was Australian in Frankfurt with Kris,
A football fan in Munich with Stefan,
learned to cook in German with Simon,
was doctored with ginger tea in Zurich with Hannes,
had a night in AND a night out with Zafiro,
went down the river with Marxlin,
conversed in the gardens with Panell,
discussed poetry and literature in the desert with James,
had a brilliant pub night with Stefano,
and braved the never-ending rain with Vio!

I can't wait to add more people!

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list, honestly, I have such an open mind! But my ultimate favourite movie is The Red Violin, my ultimate favourite book is Five Quarters of an Orange by Joanne Harris, and my ultimate favourite music is anything by Antonio Vivaldi (though, uh, hello alt-j, you kind of rock my world right now...).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I went to the desert museum last, there was this tiny aquatic flower that had somehow sprouted a bubble between its petals. Actually, they were all like this, these little flowers, but there was one big one in particular right at the front of the display. It looked like a translucent pearl perched on top of the petals, and I looked at it for far longer than I think they expect people to see that exhibit. It was incredibly beautiful. When I bravely popped the bubble with my finger, another one bubbled up. I still don't know what it was... but it was so amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to sing and play music, so certainly getting a chance to jam out with someone would be a welcome experience.

Like I said in the hosting section, I'm not a great photographer but I love to devote time to it and would be happy to bounce around taking photos with someone who is at any level! I think you learn best by doing and I'd love to have an excuse for a bit of practice.

Oh, and I would love for you to tell me a story.
