Overview
About Me
I'm a 20 year old guy from the north of The Netherlands, started using CS a year ago when cycling from my Country to Istanbul. I have not been using CS for very long but I have already fallen in love with it after experiencing how hospitable people are, how open and accepting they can be, and just how plain fun it is to meet other people when traveling alone.
I regard myself as an open minded person (whatever that means), like hearing other people tell about their culture, town/history, or anything they have much knowledge about. I am always open to hearing opinions other than mine, because maybe there is something I can learn or change in my beliefs! I do not pretend to know everything, on the contrary. I like to stay humble. For example, I always try to be respectful towards other people, whatever they may be like, because generally I don't know what's going on in their lives... everyone has their bad moments or days.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing mainly to meet new people and find a place to sleep simultaneously, because I tend to feel lonely pretty quick. I really like conversating with people, talking about all things life and what not. Also like to get insight into new cultures and languages. I feel Couchsurfing is a great way to meet with the local people which makes the travel experience more 'lively and tangible' for lack of better words.
Interests
I love listening to music. And just about anything goes in my book. I use music as a soundtrack to the movie that is my life :)
Being raised christian, I have an interest in other religions, but I am not religious myself anymore. Buddhism especially is something I would want to learn much more about.
I also have an interest in psychology which I studied for 1 year, and philosophy which I will a bachelor in next year.
I like traveling in general, seeing new places, meeting new people. I love being on my bike, I am currently traveling across Europe to Istanbul or beyond, I really enjoy the feeling of getting myself to new places while on my bike, taking in the nature and surroundings.
I like conversating, and I often end up having 'deep' philosophical talks with people (I chuckled when writing this lol)
I'm also cool with doing absolutely nothing/wasting my time playing chess and listening to music on my phone when I feel like it lol. Mostly after a long day of cycling :) but I like connecting with new interesting people even more :D

Reading
I don't read much but lately I've been reading a bit into stoicism. If you're into reading more than me, feel free to recommend some books to me! I like non-fiction over fiction but if it's a book you feel I should read, make me!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Solve a Rubik's cube in 13 seconds (I don't know if that's amazing because the world record is 3 seconds)
Finish a solo bicycle trip to Istanbul!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to solve a Rubik's cube :)
I would like to learn about your culture, right way of communicating in your country, and really anything that you are proficient in!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm quite talkative, so if you are too, that'd be great, but if you are not, no problem either! I like both being alone to 'recharge' myself as well as connecting with people. If you're interested in my country and its culture I will try to tell you all about it.
I'm always cool with helping you clean something, fix something or whatever you need me to do.
