About Me
My friends usually just call me Shockey, or any nickname they can think of.. I'm an archaeologist, teacher, traveler, small town Montana boy, and all around happy/optimistic/curious guy.. I've only been to a few countries, but I always explore the places I find myself in.. I love to just walk around places and find cool or historic or interesting or abandoned places to explore and take photos.. Always been into photography, do I always have my camera.. A little adventure is always fun too!

CURRENT MISSION
Specifically my mission right now.. I'm on a yearlong travel through east Asia, taking my sweet time so I can get an actual feel for the places.. I'll be meandering through east and southeast Asian countries, and maybe some others.. More general permanent mission; maintaining my faith in humanity by meeting diverse, chill people from all walks of life. Live to learn and have great conversations, love to discuss just about any topic, absolutely love to learn about and experience different cultures and history, and love anything weird or different..
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've indirectly met many good people over the years through friends opening their homes on couchsurfing and wanted to continue the trend. I've been inactive on the site for several years while I traveled the US working as a contract archaeologist (no couch to provide and almost always had company-paid hotels during projects), but since I started working as an English teacher in China I've wanted to get back into the community.
Interests
In general, learning through travels: learning about all cultures, music, history, worldviews, lifeways, concepts, and opinions. I'm an open, partially-filled book looking to fill more pages. Sounds cheesy, but it's the best way I could describe it.
Music, Movies, and Books
There are too many to list, but I'm willing to discuss or share experiences in everything out there.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Amazing is too relative of a word to be claiming my experiences as such. Life is defined by experiences, so all are amazing in their own way. That said... probably a 100km hike through the Montana wilderness..
Teach, Learn, Share
One of my life mottos has long been teach, learn, share. I think the world would definitely benefit if everyone shared such a goal.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversations, a listening ear, and general positivity. I'm also a mediocre harmonica and hand drum player if anyone out there is a musician.. I also have a weird amount of random trivia knowledge, and the archaeologist in me will bore you to tears if you get me started talking about history. I also can take some pretty decent photos if that counts as something..

Canada, China, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand
