Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Write my first book; it'll be on communication.
ABOUT ME
I'm observant, curious, not afraid to ask, somewhat pensive, and kind. I'm a PhD student, in my final year, doing research on how we manage to communicate. We don't always say what we mean, or mean what we say, and I want to know how that works, and look at mutual expectations and intonation. I volunteer for a mostly environmental cause. I like playing guitar, running and cycling, swimming in the sea, snapping dry twigs, rows of knotted willows, wind mills and optimism.
PHILOSOPHY
All creatures are generally good and quite interesting, even if you don't know their names.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Nearly always great. Was lucky to surf in Copenhagen, Hamburg, Dresden, Wroclaw, Krakow, Poznan, Magdeburg, Ljubljana, Paris, Sevilla, Düsseldorf. Hosted about fifteen people in Utrecht and Amsterdam.
Interests
I'm curious about almost everything... I love languages, and especially the absence of a shared language. I'm interested in politics, but generally disappointed by it. I want to live forever and be among the first space colonists; but only without leaving behind a destructued planet. I like hitchhiking, for the additional dimension of weirdness and warmth it adds to any journey.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Showering on a roof in the centre of Sevilla.
- Being without food, picking nettles for a soup, on one of the Shetland Islands.
- Watching (ice) hockey with my Canadian host.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to point out intriguingly shaped plants and curiously behaving creatures to everyone (not claiming I know much about them).
I'm a vegetarian. Allow me to cook for you or show you how to live (almost) without producing garbage!
I can talk about my research... which is pretty cool!
