About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finish grad school and get back to Africa :)

ABOUT ME

I graduated from the University of Maryland in May 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in the sciences. I moved to California and lived and worked in San Diego for a year. Then I joined the Peace Corps and taught Math, Physics, Computers and Life Skills to deaf Kenyan high schoolers, and had the best two years of my life. After being an Education Volunteer for Heifer International at very cool farm in Rutland, Massachusetts. I returned to Kenya for a few months before moving to Sierra Leone to work at the National School for the Deaf! I am now stateside getting my Masters degree in Deaf Education from Boston University.

PHILOSOPHY

I think the here and now is the best place to be. I think we get one chance to do good and be happy. And I think what is worth having is worth working for.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have surfed while on cross-country road trips and hosted tons of people from all over the world while living in Kilifi. Wouldn't trade those interactions for anything.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Absolutely wonderful. On my road trip home from California to Maryland I surfed in Boise, ID, in Bozeman, MT, and in Rapid City, SD. All three were very different but equally incredible. People's hospitality to total strangers astounds me :) I also hosted a number of different people from all over the globe while I was living in Kilifi, Kenya
