Overview
About Me
I am a connoisseur of life. I love to be surprised and always seek new experiences. I'm polite, witty and love to meet new people. I love cooking, travel and films.
I collect fridge-magnets.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Short answer, for new experiences and people.
Long form : Meeting people is the best part of any journey. When I visit a place, I like to know the culture, the local quirks and that special eatery that no guidebook would mention. I can tell you those things about many Indian cities. When I'm travelling, I love to catch up on all the human interaction that I can get. I offer the same to my guests, but if you wish privacy, you wouldn't notice me.
Interests
I am a film buff. I have also been acting on and off. I write on cinema and media. I love to take photos but I'm not a photographer. I was a member of a band and one of the editors of India's first comics magazine. I find cooking meditative and I'm a foddie.

Music, Movies, and Books
Any kind of music from folk to electronica. I used to do research on sound technology, so even noise is interesting to me.
As student of cinema and film-buff I would watch anything that moves on screen (doesn't mean I like them all!). As Jean Luc Godard says, "Cinema starts with D W Griffith and ends with Abbas Kiarostami." I'm open to the ones after that also. :D
When it comes to reading, I have two words - non-fiction and comics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My first trek to Sandakphu, the highest peak in Bengal stays with me as it taught me a lot of things about myself.
Teach, Learn, Share
People are our unending source of lifelong learning. It is impossible to understand a culture without knowing the people. So, I love to talk to surfers coming to my place and in the countries I visit. I want to share my experience of travel and living in India with them. I have been a teacher of cinema, so if anyone's interested, we can discuss world-cinema.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I welcome people who have the mentality to see beyond the guidebooks. I would love to take them around the city and talk about its culture. It gives me a chance to compare notes on both of our cultures. I would love to cook local cuisines for them, if they feel up to it. But again, I respect your privacy, so do let me know if you want to be left alone.
