About Me

Hello there! I am a Film Director originally from Mumbai, India, currently based in Barcelona, Spain. I enjoy meeting new people and having conversations that expand one's consciousness and provide a new way of looking at things. I like to enjoy life. I believe spontaneity has power, that the universe supports action. I like to take it slow and take time and soak in experiences. I once heard this in a French film, - "Those in a hurry are already dead."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find exciting to learn about people's lives, their stories, their ways of living.

The first time I stayed at a hostel was a few years ago in Singapore - an experience I thoroughly enjoyed. A few months later I had the opportunity to host two of my roomies from that very hostel and it was a delight! It fueled my desire to travel again, and travel vast...

Interests

I enjoy exploring different kinds of music. I rap and am learning Hindustaani Classical Music (fancy, eh?)
Have studied martial arts and like to keep my body and mind active :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This one time I was stroking down a street in Mumbai, and this homeless young man, with deformed legs. I gave him a few rupees, he joined his hands and thanked me, and I continued strolling. I had a chocolate on me, and I thought, with the money I've give him, he most probably will buy food, and not splurge on a chocolate- to think of it, how long would have it been since he'd last had a chocolate? I decided to go back and hand over the chocolate. He initially refused, I insisted, and he gratefully accepted it. I sat down along side, enquired about his legs- said he has polio. I said he should get them treated. He said he's been collecting
Money to do that.

But what I really wanted to tell him, was to hang in there, to not give up, not be dissapointed in life, and keep forging ahead, THAT EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON, AND ONE MUST BELIEVE IN THE GOODNESS OF LIFE, AND THAT REASON IS FOR ONE'S ULTIMATE AND HOLISTIC GROWTH EVEN IF THE CURRENT SITUATION IS RATHER TOUGH. But then, I was in no place to tell him that- how would he react to a person with my limbs perfectly functional, staying in a good house, Id never walked in his shoes, not lived a single day in the way he's spent years. But, I took a chance. I risked it. I said exactly what I felt and wanted to say. Know what was his reaction?
He humbly smiled as he looked into
my eyes and said, "Yes, that's true."

People aren't ferocious animals, they're not out to eat you alive. Be humble, show understanding. Let your self be vulnerable by doing what you feel
like, take risks, life gifts those who get out of their comfort zones with a surprise and gives meaning to life itself. (Ok, I'm done with my PhD Philosophy thesis.)

Teach, Learn, Share

I have directed movies in Mumbai and Barcelona, few of them have won and have been screened in festivals around the world. I would be glad to discuss films, and filming experiences. If the hosts are up for it, I'll be glad to conduct a free workshop on Film Direction.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can sure share some interesting travel stories, how things are done back home in India. I'll be happy to share my point of view on life and would like to learn more about yours. I believe that life truly is about experiences and emotions. There's tonnes of knowledge out there, but what I feel is important is when something can change the way look at things. I believe that we travel the world and read books, not to look for the answer, but to realise the right questions.
