About Me

I was born in Sapporo.

I lived in Vienna, Austria for 5 years when I was a teenager, therefore I speak German relatively fluently. I also speak English and a little French.

My biggest interests are gastronomy, international food and especially wine. I own some Chinese restaurants in Sapporo.

I'm married and I have a son aged 1 and a half. That's why it is a bit difficult to stay at my flat at the moment, but you are welcome to join me for coffee or drinking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I lived in Austria when I was young. While I studied in school there, many people helped me a lot. They were very kind to me.

I am very thankful still now and I want to give the kindness back to you, who come through my hometown.

If you visit Sapporo, I would be glad to help you wherever I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: British rock, some classical music, occasionally some J-pop.
Movies: watching all kinds of movies.
Books: I read about 100 books a year. I can't choose my favorite, but I am one of the Harukists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 24 years old, I published a book about my life and my adventure with my friends.

We reached the top of mt. Fuji from Tokyo (140km distance) mostly by foot, without any money.

After this journey, I wrote a blog about it. Few weeks later, a publisher got interested in my story and offered to make a book about it.

1 year later, the book was on the market in whole Japan. It wasn't a big hit, but I was happy about the opportunity.
