About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live my life to the fullest so I wouldn't have to regret not having lived enough.

ABOUT ME

Just living the moment! Algirdas and I are a couple living by the philosophy "It's better to regret having done something than to regret never having a courage to even try."
We are a laid-back couple looking for new adventures, travels and people to share experiences with.

PHILOSOPHY

Not all of those who wander are lost.

Rather regret things you've done than the ones you've never had the courage to do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I meet up with couchsurfers for a coffee or a party, if I can I definitely host them and when traveling I always try to meet other couchsurfers.
I believe that couchsurfing should not be used as a free hotel, cause if you just come to sleep over at my place and not to know me/spend time together - then I'm not your choice for a host/surfer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had some great couchsurfing experiences during my eurotrip in 2007 after graduating from school. I surfed some coaches at some really pretty amazing hosts' and I'm really greatful them for that experience.

To be fair, I haven't had many opportunities to host people on my own, cause my living arrangements never were too suitable for it but I can't wait for my own apartment, so I could host many amazing travelers.

Interests

Music takes up a pretty huge part in my life: even if it is a background for daily things, concerts, festivals and just something that I use for my mood therapy.
I do love watching great movies and sometimes I may also be too obsessed with some series like GoT, Mr Robot, Walking Dead and stuff (but I'm fighting it as with busy lifestyle there's pretty much no space left for it).
I love reading books whenever possible, though lately I may have been reading too little. Some of my all time favorites - V. Nabokov 'Lolita', Gregory David Roberts 'Shantaram', Reşat Nuri Güntekin 'The Wren' and many other.
In addition I'd like to consider myself to be a board games geek - I love paying board games or games in general. So if you're up to play some Twilight struggle, Munchkins, Baker Street 22, Ticket to ride, MtG, Catan, Small World, Dixit or you name it, I'm always up for it. And I'm always up for learning new games!
And finally, my biggest passions - traveling and people. I guess it's a common one for all CS. Ever since I was a little kid (as far as I can remember) I have dreamed of travelling around the world, seeing the most amazing places, meeting the strangest people who later on you can remember as 'one of a kind' and just gathering every moment that gives me that fulfillment. I guess I'm finally doing it as Algirdas and I have quite our jobs and moved to the opposite side of the globe to travel and explore New Zealand's wilderness.
I've always dreamed about New Zealand (ever since I've seen the first part of Lord of the Rings). Lucky for me Algirdas had the same dream ;) We both share a huge passion for mountains, hiking and love for spectacular nature views which you wish to soak in and be proud of yourself for concurring the mountain (I'm not the fittest person so every mountain climbed is a little achievement).

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Amelie Poulain, Inception, Midnight in Paris, Hugo, Dancer in the dark, Love me if you dare, Trainspotting, Dieu Est Grand, Je Suis Toute Petite, Fight Club, Kill Bill,Love Actually, Holly Motors, Bladerunner 2049, The Matrix, Shawshank redemption and many others.

Music: Well I don't have one style that I would prefer as I listen to a variety of music from electronic, techno, dubstep, junggle to indie, rock, jazz and even classic. However, I mostly like electronic with vocal such as Massive Attack or Trentemoller (my recent favorite one). Some of those that I like or used to listen in past 8 years (as I'm too lazy to delete what I have written earlier, so every time I edit I usually just add something new):
Roisin Murphy, Parov Stelar, Gus Gus, Pantha Du Prince, Dub Fx, Bjork,The Knife, The Cranberries, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Arctic Monkeys, Portishead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Muse, Fever Ray, Tiersen, Lamb, Moby, Eels, Aphex Twix, Prodigy, Pink Floyd, The Chemical Brothers, Noze, Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, Daft Punk, Marina and the Diamond, La Roux, Franz Ferdinand,Gold Panda, Skye, The Killers, M83, Cassius, Trentemoller, Royksopp, Zoot woman, Travis, Caribou etc.
Reading after quite some time I see I haven't been listening to these bands lately at all still I do like them a lot. I guess now I'm just really into discovering new things trusting my spotify. Though my all time favorite band for now is Glass Animals.

Some of my favorite books:
Alessandro Baricco 'Ocean Sea', Nabokov 'Lolita', Michail Bulgakow 'The Master and Margarita', G.R. Davids 'Shantaram', Milan Kundera 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' and many many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked to Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu!

Hitch-hiked through Europe for a month when I was 18 (but I guess this is a pretty usual one on CS). And then hitch-hiked through Europe again when I was 23.

Quit my job and moved to New Zealand for working holiday visa (after travelling 17000 km world doesn't seem so big anymore).

Teach, Learn, Share

Playing various board games, discussing and tasting different craft beers and enjoying unexpected adventures together.

I'm eager to learn everything that life and others have to offer.
