About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make a positive impact.

ABOUT ME

I am learning Arabic and Spanish and LOVE speaking in broken french. I am desperate to travel, but having been a student until just recently I am broke and haven't had the money to do so. I am very outgoing and try to be positive yet realistic. I love to talk and share adventures with people. I'm a very passionate person but also don't like to take myself/life too seriously. I love to have random bus adventures and find hidden treasures in unexpected places!

PHILOSOPHY

Exceed expectations. Make an impact. Do something positive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was once very scared to couchsurf but I took the leap and it ended up being the greatest experience! I love this organization and have met so many amazing people through it!

Sadly, my new job has me on call 24hrs between 4-7 days a week. Unfortunately, at all hours of the night, I might have to use my living room as an office. This means I can't host anyone that values sleep or privacy.

I can, however, take you around town and show you a few hidden gems!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had some amazing experiences with Couchsurfing! My first time was just fabulous staying with a new friend in Toronto, she really established my faith in this site and community. I have had continual success throughout my time on this site, especially in Peru as I was connected with so many amazing people and opportunities. I love this website and community and hope to have many positive experiences with it in the future!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Huayna Picchu and went to the Temple of the Moon and legit almost died.
I grew up in Libya (Brega)and have traveled to 22 countries (but I don't count them in my personal travels since I was generally under 10 years old).
I saved someones life once by giving them the J-thrust (also known as the heimlich maneuver).
To be continued in person (hopefully)...

Teach, Learn, Share

I love reading about/studying politics, international affairs, global development (global poverty issues), and cultural studies. I am writing my thesis on microcredit institutions and the relationship between credit and debt in the social reproduction of capitalism. I also am obsessed with karaoke (I mostly do Broadway covers) and I like to sew... so I can throw that into the mix if politics aren't really your thing.

I am passionate about learning and love to hear about and discuss other peoples passions on every subject (especially if it is a new subject for me).
