Overview
About Me
Hi, my name is Sid, a Norwegian twenty-something who enjoys music, travelling, and meeting new people. I often travel around with my ukulele, and I like taking photos, and also exploring the local vegetarian food options!
I'm a pretty easygoing person, who seldom experience culture shock. I like meeting and talking to new people, so I hope our paths cross so that I can make a new acquaintance (or maybe even a friend?).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have travelled with Airbnb before, and I prefer this kind of travel a thousand times over the impersonal hotels, and the tourist packed hostels. This is a way of travel that lets you meet the locals, which gives you a unique insight on what life is actually like in a city/country for those that live there. I don't only want to the the postcard-esque version of a country; I want to see it for what it is. What better way than to stay with and get to know the locals?
Interests
I am a musician, songwriter, photographer, and artist. I really enjoy walking around a city, looking at cool street art and magnificent architecture. I am also a coffee enthusiast, and want to try out every single version of this godly drink if I can. I am vegetarian, and it's always fun exploring the vegetarian scene in each city. I come from a small town with no vegetarian scene myself, so I know how to find food (even in the most meat-centric of countries). Lastly, I want to try it all. Learning to surf, cayaking, trekking, parachute jumping, yoga, swimming with sharks... anything and everything I can.

Music, Movies, and Books
A bit of everything! Though recurring musicians in my Spotify playlists are Ed Sheeran, Panic! at the Disco, Bastille, Halsey, Of Monsters and Men, Fall Out Boy, Pentatonix, Morten Abel, and Studio Killers.
Movies mostly go in superhero movies, a bit of alien horror movies, animated movies, Studio Ghibli, and action/adventure (can anyone say Mad Max: Fury Road?).
The books I read are maybe a cliché, but I really enjoy books about some sort of travel, be it internal or external. Road trips, wandering, losing yourself, finding yourself, vagabonding... Some personal favourites are "The Wizard of Earthsea", "Papertowns", "Catcher in the Rye", and "The Host".
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went to the Philippines for five weeks with my dad and his Philippino wife in 2013. We explored, cayaked, lived in the far countryside, in metro Manila, in five star hotels and in bamboo cabins in the slum. I got the worst sunburn of my life. We snorkelled for hours upon hours, and I saw the fish from Finding: Nemo. I ate a deep fried egg. I ate halo-halo (google it, seriously). I'll never forget that trip, and one day I will be back.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach you some ukulele if you want, and I know all there is to know about Norway, from Nordic mythology, children's tales, history, etc. I also know lots of stories from Greek mythology, if that's more of your style! I can sing, and I could make you traditional Norwegian food, or just generally vegetarian food.
In return I'd like to learn about your country and culture! Any interesting myths? Local history? Wars? Peaceful times? Any (vegetarian, or adjustable) traditional dishes you could make for me? A song or dance? If you have the time to join me for a walk, or a meal, or even just give me your personal recommendations for the local scene, I'd be forever grateful!
