About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit 10 different cities every year till I die.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in New Delhi. I am currently working as a Software Engineer at Cerner corporation in KC. I graduated from Washington University in St Louis where I studied computer science. I am an avid traveller. I have surfed through almost the entire north India. I have already visited around 4 Countries this year. I am planning to add Dublin, Naples, Malta and London to the list soon. I like to visit new places, preferably close to nature and appreciate good company. Traveling is something I love because it helps me meet new people and relate to them. I get to know about their culture and their country which never ceases to fascinate me. I really love to learn about different cultures and stories about them. I am a foodie and wherever I go, tasting the local cuisine is on the top of my list. I can cook a few Indian dishes too. I can stay up till late at night to appreciate the starry nights as well as I can wake up early to start the day along with the sun.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is similar to a bus ride. The journey begins when we board the bus. We meet people along our way of which some are strangers, some friends and some strangers yet to be friends. There are stops at intervals and people board in. At times some of these people make their presence felt, leave an impact through their grace and beauty on us fellow passengers while on other occasions they remain indifferent. But then it is important for some people to make an exit, to get down and walk the paths they were destined to because if people always made an entrance and never left either for the better or worse, then we would feel suffocated and confused like those people in the bus, the purpose of the journey would lose its essence and the journey altogether would neither be worthwhile nor smooth. I believe there are too many people in this world to meet and interact with. We have so little time. Start early, go out and meet new people because everything dies and one thing that remains is your essence in those people's heart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can host you in Kansas City till August. Feel free to send me a request to check for availability. Even if I am not able to host you I can still show you around and make sure that you are comfortable. but it depends on my schedule.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It has been great. Although I have only CouchSurfed in India till date. On my way to Gulmarg,Kashmir I stayed in a Kashmeeri village near Anantnag for a week. On my way back to New Delhi I CouchSurfed at a Retired Army Officer's house in the outskirts of Shimla. That was the most wonderful experience of my life. Army people always have so many stories to tell.

Interests

I am big soccer fan. Die hard fan of Arsenal Football Club which is based in London. I am always ready to talk about soccer. Rafael Nadal inspires me. Football, Tennis, politics, Global warming, increasing crime rate, Corruption, god particle, Global Economy etc etc I am ready to talk about anything. I love to dance. I am bad at it but it feels liberating to just give yourself in to the music. I like to play a lot of pranks too. I have done a lot of adventure sports like Bungee Jumping, Rafting, Skiing, Cliff Jumping and Paragliding. I love snow covered mountain peaks. I love to hear stories from people and love to tell them mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge fan of Indian classical music and sufi music. AR Rahman is my favorite musician. Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and Opeth are a few bands I like and would love to hear them live. For movies I like Nolan and Tarantino. Dark Knight series being one of the best I have seen. Into the wild is my favorite movie. Coming to TV series, I have watched many serials and Breaking Bad and Friends are my favorites (its not required to mention Game of Thrones, Its obvious). I do not read much nowadays due to my busy schedule. Although from what I have read, my favorite book is The Kite Runner.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bungee Jumping from around a 100 mtrs.
There is a very sad incident associated with this. While I was in Bangalore to meet my relatives a few years back, I went to do Bungee Jumping there and there was an accident. A person died in front of me while doing the jump. Doing it was the most difficult decisions in my life for obvious reasons. But I felt so good after doing it. It was so liberating. Till the time the rope was slack there was this thought in my ind that this very second might be my last. And when I started swinging around over the river Ganges, I was ecstatic.
