Sobre Mim

Note: I recently shifted from Varanasi to Bangalore.

Hey there!

Nomadic, Introvert and Bibliophile are three words that describes me best - Although, I've been told, my introversion takes a back seat after a can of beer, or two. :)

I'm not on Facebook, but if you want to know more, you can follow me here - https://www.instagram.com/raspy_sid/

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

I love to travel and meet with new people. They bring a whole new set of experiences with them and it's always interesting to share stories or roam around a city with a bunch of folks bonding over a cup of coffee. :)

Interesses

I sometimes think these "interests" are taking up all the time for me. I love art and literature, I'm crazy about books (to the point that buying too many books have essentially always kept me broke), I like sketching and painting and desperately trying to get good at it, I'm really into singing and trying my best to get out of that "bathroom singer" zone. I'm an aspiring polyglot - getting to know the local art and culture and be able to appreciate those is one of the most satisfying experiences for me. Currently I'm learning French and although the progress is not as fast as I'd like it to be, I'm getting there.

And last but not the least - I love travelling! (although that's a "duh" given it's couchsurfing - everyone here loves travelling!)

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Aah. The good old trio. These are probably the best companions one could hope for.

Music - I listen to a variety of music and picking out favorites is harder than it sounds. But if someone would force me to single out - Coldplay is the name I'd blurt out. The soul-satisfying sound of Chris Martin is just so magical that I sometimes forget my surroundings - I've listened to Fix You probably a thousand times. I've lately been listening to more Jazz and I'm loving it - Miles Davis is a genius! I am also a fan of Psychedelic and Progressive Rock - Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder. Mostly I listen to folk/indie music and my "Discover Weekly" on Spotify has been immensely useful in recommending new and underground music. Also, there's a less-known Indie singer/songwriter from India named Prateek Kuhad - check out his music if you haven't. He's absolutely incredible!

Movies/Tv Series - I love the Nolan brothers and it seems everything they touch turns to gold. I've recently finished Westworld and it's freaking genius! Black Mirror, Mr. Robot and Silicon Valley are some of the shows I'd highly recommend. As far as movies are concerned - Fight Club is probably at the top of my list, closely followed by V for Vendetta and American Beauty. Also, I'd like to add following two to the list - Inglorious Bastards for the amazing performances and Casablanca for the good-old romantic charm.

Books - I'm a sucker for classics, so my favorites will be slightly biased towards them. Everything written by Fyodor Dostoevsky is pure gold and Crime and Punishment is one of the finest books dealing with psychology. I loved the prose writing style of Oscar Wilde in The Picture of Dorian Gray. He paints a beautiful picture of how the superficial external beauty is capable of destroying the best in people. I've never been more conflicted with myself as I was while reading Lolita - it is an incredible example of how powerful writing can be. There's only so many I can include here - 1984, The Book Thief, The Kite Runner, The Fountainhead, The Perks of Being a Wallflower etc.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

Yet to do something for which I can pat myself on the back.

O Que Posso Compartilhar com Anfitriões

A Conversation, at least. Sharing my stories from what little I've seen while backpacking and listening to those of fellow travelers is a pretty satisfying experience.
