Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To dodge redundant definition.
ABOUT ME
Something discovered through proximity and experience.
PHILOSOPHY
To avoid harm, to aim to do good. "Amour omnia vincit"........love conquers all. Combined with "Love many, trust few and always paddle your own canoe" that gets me through life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Presently, as a "newbie" who has not yet "couch-surfed" nor had my "couch-surfed". I would be willing to participate more deeply when I've gotten through the rite of passage of figuring out how the C.S system works and what it offers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
none to date!
Interests
Like everyone, I have friends scattered over the world - mostly met in Dublin during teenage years, or in London when I lived there for over two decades, who I visit and stay with. I would never have described that - in pre-internet-times - as "couch-surfing" but as "visiting friends". I have travelled extensively through Europe, at one stage cycling from Dublin to Rome, alone, on a bike and staying at Youth Hostels. That was probably the closest experience to C.S. I have had and at that time - the 1960's - thoroughly enjoyable. The world was a simpler place then. Cynicism and exploitation were not such a large part of public and social life as they seem to be in some arenas now.

Music, Movies, and Books
Eclectic. I am more interested in 'doing' than consuming but sometimes end up vegging in front of t.v. where I enjoy The Simpsons and thoughtful films which depict the complexity of human life and interrelationships in a way that values and deepens.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Every day is full of wonder. I had to brake hard during my drive to work one day last week when a peacock stepped out of the undergrowth at the side of the busy commuter road and proceeded to walk slowly and with dignity across the road, tail spread behind it. On a walk along the seafront last week (I work in a small sea-side town on the East coast) I watched a sea-gull drive off a peregrine falcon which had been hovering for some minutes hunting small rodents on the grass slope which runs along the seafront. So I don't think one has to search for wonders! One recent wonder whilst travelling was visiting restored prairie-lands in Iowa and seeing the rapidly-growing herds of bison and elk. Extraordinary! A few weeks ago I saw The Twelve Apostles.......a dramatic series of rock-formations along the Great Ocean Road, Melbourne Australia, from a helicopter. My first helicopter trip. Amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
People with special powers are welcome. So are people with ordinary powers which are - in my humble view - of much more value. If guests know about growing stuff they could advise me on managing my allotment! I know something about relational dynamics of large groups and organisations which I enjoy talking about to anyone interested.
