About Me

I'm a curious, fun-loving guy looking to explore the world. Originally from Southern India, I have lived in the United States for over 4 years now, attending two research universities, working for various major newspapers and earning a master's degree in journalism along the way. Currently getting my second master's in computer science. I'm glad to have had such an eclectic background and life experiences in my twenties.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people from different walks of life, something that's also part of my day job. Traveling has always caught my imagination like few other things and there is probably no better way of getting to know a place than through the people who call it home.

I have had amazing experiences previously staying in hostels around the U.S., meeting people from all over the world and getting to know their adventures, crazy stories, interests etc. I am on Couchsurfing for a taste of the same things I have found before, and to be part of a huge global community.

Interests

I've recently got into backcountry camping and find it an enriching enterprise. I love chasing meaningful experiences. Experiencing other peoples' cultures and ways of life has always been central to a huge chunk of my interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music genres: classic rock, folk rock, hip-hop, bluegrass, bossa nova, Hindustani music, Carnatic music and whatever The Smiths are.

Currently listening to: Pale Blue Eyes by The Velvet Underground.

Currently reading: The Dunwich Horror and Others by H.P. Lovecraft.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Writing about the entertainment industry for the Los Angeles Times in 2015, a time in which I met the people who keep the lights of show-business on, from behind the scenes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching the languages I know! Also love learning new languages, learning Swedish currently. Each and every language is a precious thing.

I've worked as a professional journalist so if you'd like to talk about the state of the media, I'm a good person to talk to.

I'm decent at C# coding, interested in video game design and development! I'm also a graduate student in computer science with interests in psychology and cognition, so rationality, math and logic are never far from my mind.

Would love to make you a playlist of obscure but essential Bossa nova tunes and Carnatic melodies.

Can teach you how to cook delicious chicken curry and lamb biryani if you crave Indian food!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Indian food (as previously mentioned), stories about crazy interviews and oddball personalities I've met, national news events I was a part of and travel tips for lots of places in the U.S. and India.

In general I love talking about my culture and background and getting to know other people's.

Last but not least, I actually like doing dishes!
