About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm on a mission to travel the world, make art, promote and practice permaculture and spread joy.

ABOUT ME

Hi there! My name is Sienna and I'm on an adventure. I love to think up zany things and do them, I love to craft delicious plans. I am traveling the world, starting a permaculture collective farm, SCUBA diving every chance I get, writing novels and short stories, making music in a band and on my own, learning about everything and looking to enjoy my life as much as possible! I'm pretty open minded and I like to try new things and meet new people. I want to stay with folks all around the world and learn about their lives for a bit. I hope you'll join me!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in working together for the mutual benefit of all people, I believe in abandoning prejudice and accepting and celebrating different kinds of people, I believe in caring for the earth and everything on it - it's where we have to live after all!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love traveling and I love meeting new people. I want to connect with good folks and give people a place to stay during their own travels. I'm very excited to give it a try!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had the opportunity to go couch surfing in San Diego in February 2013, and it was awesome. I'm hoping to be able to host folks in the future even though I'm going to be living out of the city.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books/Comics/Authors: I love Neil Gaiman, especially his books American Gods, Neverwhere and the Sandman comics. I'm also deeply intrigued by Chuck Palahniuk who really knows how to plumb the depths of human depravity and come up having you understand and care for his characters. Kurt Vonnegut is beautiful, Cat's Cradle truly altered my mind. Anne Rice is deliciously dark, I love her vampire books and the Witches of Mayfair series. His Dark Materials, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cage, The Colour Purple, The Lord of the Rings, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Kate Borenstein, The Mists of Avalon, The Runaways comic and many, many others. I love to read in general, anything with compelling characters is lovely and I have a specific taste for really good fantasy and sci-fi.

Music: I love punk and especially folk punk, but I'm open to lots of stuff from Bluegrass to Technopop. Some of my favourite acts are Amanda Palmer, Captain Chaos, Ghost Mice, Inward Eye, The Clash, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Farrell Brothers, SubCity, Black Flag, Rancid, Spoonboy, Tom Frampton, The Ghostwrite, The Atomic Duo, The Distillers, Joan Jett, The Misfits, Buffy Ste. Marie, Bob Dylan, The Doors, Nirvana, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Jeremy Fisher, Billy Bragg, Cobra Skulls, Dropkick Murphys, Howlin' Wolf, Etta James, The Beatles, The Smashing Pumpkins and many, many more. Music is a huge part of my life ever since my parents used to play me rock and hippie songs on the guitar every night before I fell asleep!

Movies/TV Shows: I really like Sci-Fi movies and television, but I also like a lot of foreign art films (my mother's influence), horror films, anything kind of experimental, anything with really good acting, and anything decently done with superheros. I like a lot of very good movies and a lot of very silly ones. My favourite directors are Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan and Joss Whedon. I love Fight Club, American History X, The Matrix, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Inception, The Dark Knight, Memento, Chocolat, Como Agua Para Chocolate, The Watchmen, Pan's Labyrinth, But I'm a Cheerleader, Tipping the Velvet, Fried Green Tomatoes, the Lord of the Rings, The Amazing Spiderman, Star Trek, 28 Days Later, School of Rock, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Water for Elephants, Oldboy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dollhouse, The Wire, Doctor Who, Veronica Mars, The Walking Dead and an ever changing variety of others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first time I ever went SCUBA diving after my certification, I was on a dive off the island of Cozumel. We were going along the wall of coral that drops of into an abyss of seeming endless blue. We were nearing the end of a fantastic dive and I spotted my first every stingray, which was huge and fantastic. I was so transfixed I almost mist my dive master trying to get my attention. I finally noticed and turned back, finding myself face to face with a shark. It was bigger than me and hanging out in a little cavern in the coral. I stayed as long as I could, fighting the current to stare into the eyes of this magnificent creature. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach folks how to cook and bake a few things, how to make some basic cheeses, how to play a couple chords and basic songs on guitar, how to speak a little basic Spanish, how to play piano, how to grow food, how to knit a little or how to dye their hair.

I would love to learn more Spanish, some French, how to make patterns for sewing, how to juggle, how to surf, how to play cat's cradle, how to draw, how to cut hair, how to fish, archery, how to care for horses or how to dance.
