I'm trying to understand the world one step at a time. Literally. I'm open-minded, treat other people with respect and stick to my principles. I try to live with integrity and am a bit too generous at times, but I also don't suffer fools gladly. I'm a social but occasionally introverted person who likes to meet new people and see new things. I have a love for film, travel, writing, music, sport, politics and topical conversation. If these involve a few alcoholic drinks or good coffee then even better. I'm a friendly person who is easy to get along with and talk to. I can be quite deep-thinking and nocturnal at times which often makes for interesting late-night conversations and adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I signed up for this when backpacking Australia but never got to use it properly (as a host or surfer). I had a couple of people help me out with advice though, and most people I contacted were friendly and replied. I think the idea is great (when being used honestly) and am still looking forward to the day I can sleep on, or provide, my first couch!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been lucky enough to live (and work) in South Africa, England, Wales, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Some of my favourite experiences include scuba diving in Koh Tao and Gili Trangawan, visiting the Taj Mahal and dancing at to a silent disco under the stars on the beach of Byron Bay. One year I spent 'Christmas' touring of five central European countries, sampling all the mulled wine and food! At the end of 2018 I moved to Vietnam for a few months, managing a hostel on a tropical island called Phu Quoc. Along the way I've fallen in love with a few people and places. I still want to travel South and Central America and visit Sri Lanka and The Maldives one day.
