About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn new mantras

ABOUT ME

I meditate on dhal with the grooves of the didj and djembe beating through my blood. It is a wild existence, this, made wilder through pacing through your day-to-day experience, making it more vibrant and sometimes harder as you go by. I'm keen to go deeper and deeper into my consciousnesses: lucidity through the feet, through the hands, through the eyes, through the mouth, the ears, through dreaming, through breathing, through feeling, and so on. My life is a big experiment for me to investigate through. Everything is as light as you allow to be. If you can only be light through stimulative substances that you consume, your natural system surely becomes numbed to its possibilities. I try to explore as naturally as possible. Barefoot running. Meditating for long periods. Tripping on mantras. Cold showers. Extremely hot chillis. Incredibly quiet places, where you can hear for miles. Darkness upon a new moon. The smell of wet forests.

I'm a student of religions and history at university in Bath, and likewise now a religious diversity activist. I am very influenced by Indic practice, and Zen thought. My post-grad plans are to become a yogi.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that noone can have a personal philosophy. It's all shared. Your philosophy is mine, and visa versa. You can call me a totalitarian dictator for stating that, and I must agree with you. Because your philosophy is mine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I send out many requests for couches when I am travelling and have many neglects. It's very taoistic. I've only hosted a little, and so need to host more.

Although, actually, technically I hosted for a month non-stop last year, every night of it pretty much, whilst I resided at the Occupy Bath camp. I was one of the two continuous occupants, and so maybe that has been my major participation. Unfortunately, in that time although I'm sure there were many people looking for couches in Bath, none seemed to want the couches that we had to offer. It was a very comfortable camp too, but we just didn't have the amount of visitors we needed towards the end.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's been quite nice.

Interests

My interests cannot be compounded into words on a screen. It'd make an actual meeting up with you pretty boring if you knew exactly what I'm most into in life. Oh, I have an interest in surprises and excitement.

Music, Movies, and Books

I watched a fantastic film a few weeks ago called Anima Mundi.

Today I listened, by choice, to a song by Edge Of Sanity and then a song by Vehemence. This was quite out of the ordinary though. For the previous two weeks I'd been singing bhajans for most of my time.

And right now, I've started reading 'Afternoon Tea With Guruji', records of some talks that Guru Sri Subramanium (of Skanda Vale attribute) had with devotees. Often I read books to do with some kind of westernisation of Eastern philosophy. Hardcore Zen was a recent one for me, for instance. And I began reading Be Here Now again.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This question is biased against those who can't remember so clearly.... I can remember, at the moment, the last week or so. And a powerful experience in the last week was drumming during the bhajans in a Sri Ranganatha puja at Skanda Vale and seeing Durga's tiger when I had my eyes closed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach, yes. And I can likewise learn. And I feel like as if I'm pretty good at sharing too.

If I went too deeply into this, again it would spoil the surprise...
