About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To try to learn that being near is better that keeping some distance.

ABOUT ME

I'm sometimes quiet, sometimes talkative, pretty typical Finn in a way that it can take some time for me to get on my "comfort zone" when meeting new people. But all and all I'm quite easy-going, so if it happens that we meet on my "bad day" it doesn't mean that I'd be hostile or anything like that, I would just keep to myself more than usually.

Well, that probably sounded a bit depressing;) but that's me, I guess. I am also known for knowing to have a good time and I consider myself a very funny person but – as is common for people coming out of Eastern Finland – my humour can sometimes be pretty dark, and sometimes it takes to know me to know that I'm just joking. But I try to be civil when meeting new people:).

PHILOSOPHY

Never say "no" to dancing, swimming, or singing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm slowly experiencing CouchSurfing. I have hosted a few times and I've c-surfed a couple of times myself.

Some CS people have written on their profile that they don't like the idea of CS being "a free hostel" so I should be open that for me the most important part of couch surfing is indeed that it could be of help financially. I mean, I'm a not-that-well-financed artist so the possibility of not having to spend "a fortune" for a roof over my head intrigues me.

Of course it's also nice to meet new people – especially when traveling alone – and it's understood that it's not OK to treat hosts or hostesses as paid servants (or in this case 'unpaid'). The Couch is in someone's home and couchsurfer is a guest they've invited in.
So, cheap accommodation is in my interests but – even though I'm maybe usually more introvert than extrovert – I think I've liked every new person I've met while traveling so meeting interesting people is of course a plus.

***For those who receive a couch request from me***
If it feels like the request you've received is not really personal it most likely is not. It could take me a couple of hours to write one single request that I feel gives accurate idea of what I'm expecting from my stay at your city/town, and since my experience so far is that I have to send about twenty requests to get one accepting answer, I think to expect me to write personal request to everyone is a bit too much (of course one is entitled to want such if one feels that's necessary).
But even though my couch request might be a copy/paste type I can assure you that if I've sent you a request I have indeed read your profile and found something interesting in it. I'd rather go to a hostel than ask for a couch from someone I most likely wouldn't like to spend time with.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in a lake.
Swimming in a sea.
Swimming in an ocean.

(OK, I just wrote something here to be able to send a couch request:) but I do love water/swimming)

And I saw sheep feeding in a graveyard in Shkodër, Albania!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show how to take photos the punk way. That is, taking lots and lots of photos not caring that one doesn't really have the artistic eye to take "good pictures". It's not about the quality, it's about quantity...
