ABOUT ME

I am an easy-going, open-minded person, who's not the most talkative sometimes, but I enjoy spending time with friends and getting to know new, interesting people.
I am non-drinker, non-smoker and vegetarian, which is not just a way of nutrition for me, but an attitude towards life. (no I'm not one of the missionary ones)
In all, I'd like to describe my lifestyle as minimalistic and frugal. Although I'm not (yet) resistant to all the germs of consumerism, I try to do my best in questioning the conditioning of society. Simple pleasures, like a good homemade meal or going for a walk in the forest make me happier than spending loads of money on clothes, for example.

My husband Alessio comes from Italy and we share the same believes and values.

We're proud parents of our lovely daughter Emily.

I love traveling not only for finding incredible places, but mostly for meeting beautiful people, exchanging experiences and knowledge.
That's why I hope to achieve a similar result, by hosting people in our apartment, by giving them the same rewarding experience of couchsurfing that I was able to appreciate many times before during my travels.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard many good and bad things about couchsurfing, but actually, all of my experiences were truly awesome!

What I like most about the idea of couchsurfing is that in times, when capitalism is dominating society, there are people who are willing to offer a couch for free to strangers. The thought that anyone independent of his or her wealthyness can travel anywhere to gain inner richness, gives me faith to believe in a shift of the mentality of our modern society towards trusting, sharing and sustainability.

Interests

I like art, photography, movies and theatre.
As much as I enjoy the culture and the vibrance of a new city, I also appreciate being in nature a lot.
Last but absolutely not least, I have an addiction to (good, healthy, fresh, vegetarian) FOOD. I love to spend way too much time on preparing it, to experiment and of course to learn new things (like delicious vegan meals for example)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love watching good films which make me laugh, cry or think. There are so many films I like, so i can only list a few of them, such as "Million Dollar Baby", "Friendship!","Into the wild", "Mr. Nobody", ...

And I enjoy discovering music of nearly every genre but there are some of my favourite singers and bands you should know: Calcutta, Angels&Airwaves, One Republic,30 Seconds to Mars, Alt-J, Twenty one Pilots, Dirk Reichardt (movie soundtrack) and many others

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping on the street in Sydney, although it was only for one night, gave me such an interesting perspective of what it means to have a gentle place to stay.

During my semester abroad in Montreal, being part of a group of incredible creative and dedicated people, I learned, that anything is possible as long as you are surrounded by the right people in the right place.

And of course meeting my husband in one of many beautiful places were I volunteered while traveling.

Teach, Learn, Share

Language exchange is always welcome. I like to practice my Portuguese and my husband speaks Italian and Spanish

I can also teach you about (digital and a little bit of analogue) photography and editing.

And did I mention, I love cooking? We can probably also learn from each other about food.
