About Me

I’m Sıla from Türkiye.
Last March, I quit my 10–7 job (yes, 10 hours a day, 5 days a week) and started traveling full-time. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
For the past 6 months, I’ve been exploring Southeast Asia, discovering new places, cultures, and ways of living.
In September, I’ll be moving to Barcelona to start my Master’s in Data Science — so this journey is also a transition into a new chapter of my life.
I was away from Couchsurfing for a couple of years, but I really missed the meaningful connections I made here, so I decided to come back.
I’m someone who feels grateful for everyday moments, different cultures, new environments, and the people who make each experience unique.
I enjoy being outdoors, and I love wine and coffee.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, traveling is not just about places, but about people. I love meeting people from different cultures and building real connections.
Couchsurfing is one of the best ways to experience a place through locals and make genuine friendships.
And honestly, I also appreciate that people here are more respectful and less focused on superficial interactions 😊

Interests

I love talking about books, cultures, traditions, politics, space, relationships ... I like traveling new cities to explore places and meet new people. Sometimes I would like to camp in the nature with my friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy electronic music — some of my favorites are Mau P, Solomun, Rampa, and WhoMadeWho — but I’m generally open to all kinds of music.
During my travels, I don’t watch many movies, but one of the latest ones I really liked is Bugonia.
My favorite book is My Sweet Orange Tree, and I also really enjoy science fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Practicing yoga near the Himalayas is something I will never forget.
Spending a night under the stars in the desert in Wadi Rum was another unforgettable experience.
I also trekked one of the highest volcanoes in Lanzarote. It was both challenging and rewarding.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share some of my favorite Turkish traditions and stories.
I’m always curious to learn about different cultures, especially local food, new languages, and everyday life in different places.
I also enjoy joining new activities and stepping out of my comfort zone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my culture, travel experiences, and positive energy.
I’m also happy to help with daily tasks like chores, errands, shopping, or organizing, just let me know 😊
