About Me

Hey there, I’m Silver. I’m a remote software engineer based in Richmond, Virginia, happily engaged, and starting to explore the country more intentionally while working remotely.

I’m basically trying out the digital nomad thing: spending time in different cities, working during the day, and using evenings or weekends to get a real feel for each place. I’m especially interested in finding somewhere that could eventually become my “forever place.”

Since I'm working while I travel, a stable Wi-Fi connection and a quiet/private place to set up my laptop are the main things I need. Beyond that, I’m very easygoing!

I usually travel solo, though my partner may occasionally join me. If that’s ever the case, I’ll always mention it clearly ahead of time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m exploring the U.S. with the bigger goal of figuring out where my “forever place” might be.

I’m less interested in quick tourist stops and more interested in experiencing what a city actually feels like: the neighborhoods, daily rhythm, local food, people, music scene, walkability, and overall vibe.

Couchsurfing feels like a much better way to understand a place than staying in a hotel and only seeing the surface.

Interests

I’m a pretty curious person and tend to enjoy places through everyday experiences: walking around neighborhoods, trying local food, checking out a small venue, browsing a bookstore, cooking at home, or having a relaxed conversation with someone who actually lives there.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m into a pretty wide range of music, especially R&B, jazz, and ambient music. For shows, movies, and books, a few easy favorites are The Office, The Queen’s Gambit, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve built a life that lets me work remotely and explore new places while still staying grounded in my career and relationships. I’m now using that flexibility to learn more about the country and figure out what kind of place could feel like home long-term.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach or share anything around software, remote work, guitar, cooking, chess basics, or general tech.

I’m always happy to learn about a city from someone who lives there: favorite neighborhoods, underrated food spots, local music venues, good walks, hidden gems, and what it’s actually like to live there.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m clean, respectful, low-maintenance, and communicative. I read the room well, so I’m happy to hang out and chat, cook a meal, play a casual game of chess, or give you your space.

I’m also happy to help around the house where useful, bring something small from Richmond, or cook a meal as a thank-you. I try to be the kind of guest who makes hosting easy and leaves your home just as good as I found it.
