About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Become Fearless!

ABOUT ME

About Me: I'm a 31 year-old female from Pocatello, Idaho in the USA. I lived in Harlem in New York City for a year and a half and I loved it! I am very open minded to other people's views, cultures, and opinions.

Jobs & Careers: I worked with children with disabilities and behavior problems for four years before moving to New York City and getting a job in a finace company as an Executive Assistant. During the summers my family is HUGE into fireworks. I love our fireworks business and plan on doing that the rest of my life. I would love to go back to school and get a MA or PhD in something but haven't decided what yet. In April of 2011 I was hired to work for the County as a Juvenile Probation Officer. So far I love it! I also ref soccer for Pocatello youth and colleges around the state.

Other Details: I was a college athlete in soccer and thus love sports. I love to work out and I have signed up to run my first marathon in Pocatello in September. I own an awesome 4 bedroom home Idaho but it's too big for me right now and so I currently rent it out.

Traveling: I've traveled a lot in the United States and at the age of 22 started traveling to other countries. A couple of years ago I got the bug to travel internationally and so I quit my job in NYC and have been doing month long trips to different places and last I counted I had made it to a total of 22 countries so far.

Settling Down: I came back to Pocatello to work for a while and fell head over heels for my boyfriend, Jake. Now I'm enjoying a slower lifestyle. I watch movies on weekends, ref soccer during the season, and enjoy time with my parents and brothers. I love to travel, but I'm loving some down time just being with those I love.

I love traveling because it allows me to meet so many wonderful people and experience such awesome things! I have loved staying with people on Couchsurfing. What neat adventures I'm having! I can't wait to experience more!

PHILOSOPHY

Be - Do - Have NOT Have - Do - Be
A great saying from my father. The philosophy is that if you BE the person you want to be you will DO the things that will get you somewhere in life and you will eventually HAVE all that you desire. If you focus on HAVING the things first hoping that it will make you DO something cool and BE someone, you won't ever get there.

If Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes.
Wise advise from my grandfather. If you don't like something, change it. If you don't work to change it, you'll always get the same thing. Things won't ever be different in your life unless you instill Change. So get moving!

My philosopy to myself: Don't ever let yourself get stuck in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting: I have hosted quite a few groups of people in this small town of Pocatello, Idaho. I hope to host more travelers and share stories and experiences. I plan on being a CS host & surfer for many years to come.
Surfing: I have surfed a lot and always been respectful of people's home and things. My goal is to treat their home better than I treat my own.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It has been great couchsurfing! The hospitality we are given is wonderful all around. We had some amazing experiences. We loved that the hosts were able to give us the 'local' ideas and suggestions that we wouldn't have been able to receive from a hostel. The biggest thing that I could share is to remember that with each Host you will experience something different. Some do much more for you than others, but it doesn't matter. Appreciate that each one of them were willing to give you a safe place to stay. Show your appreciation in whatever way fits you, no matter how large or small.

I was very impressed that our Hosts allowed 2-4 girls to stay with them. That's a lot of company to let crash at their place at one time. But I can't begin to express my gratitude to each couchsurfer. I have so much admoration and love for each of them. I feel like I have so many friends all over the world now. Thank you.

As for my experience Hosting- I think the most important thing is to communicate as much as possible and be honest to your host. Nothing can make an experience worse than not communicating and not being honest.
