About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live the answers (Rilke), to make some tracks, establish the routines that bring a sense of living in a city rather than simply passing through.
ABOUT ME
I'm a textbook Pisces: sympathetic, artistic, sensitive. I love to sing, dance, draw, read, and peoplewatch. I prefer trains to planes; I prefer to walk outside than run on a treadmill; I prefer fish to red meat, wheat to white, Mucha to Picasso, Madrid to Barcelona, and it's a close tie between beaches or mountains. Socks annoy me (I'd rather wear sandals or go barefoot, but city living discourages both), as do whiners and people who don't take care of themselves.
PHILOSOPHY
Happiness is the only truth, the most important thing. Everyone deserves second chances, and there is such a thing as a sixth sense, a gut instinct.
"Magic carpet-rides, rune magic, Ali Baba and visions of the Holy Mother, astral travel and the future in the dress of a glass of red wine... Buddha. Frodo's Journey into Mordor. The transubstatiation on the sacrament. Dorothy and Tot. The Easter Bunny. Space aliens. The Thing in the closet. The Resurrection and the Life at the turn of a card... I've believed them all at one time or another. Or pretended to. Or pretended not to."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Crashed with a high school friend in Cork, Ireland, for five days while he was studying abroad there and I, in London. We didn't see much of each other during the days but every night we ate pasta, split a bottle of wine and played cards until one of started losing so badly that the other decided to call it a night. (I still owe him five bottles of wine from one particularly bad evening of Gin Rummy.)
Hosted a college acquaintance while I was in London, someone I didn't know very well but welcomed into my flat like an old friend. When I had to run to class in the daytime I gave her my map, a couple of recommendations for places to go and exhibits to see, and hoped she found her way around the city alright.
CouchSurfed in Genova (mediocre), Como (good), and Pisa (great!).
