About Me

Hi everybody!
I'm Silvia, I'm italian and I was born in Bergamo, a city not far from Milano but now I'm living (again) in the most beautiful city of the world: Venice.

I'm friendly, open-minded and I love to meet new people from all over the world, especially when I'm travelling. I like people like me: kind, open-minded (if you're racist or homophobe you better stay away from me), curious and happy to have a good conversation in front of a glass of wine (or italian coffee!)

During High School I studied English, French and Spanish, then I moved to Venice to study Japanese language and culture. As you can see, I love to study languages and cultures (I like anthropology) but I want to become a professional photographer one day (for now it's just my second job!). I'm also a web writer for an italian on-line travel magazine (www.nuok.it).

"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet new people from different countries, share experiences and points of view because for me that's what life is made for. I already made a lot of interesting encounters thanks to CS and I don't want to stop!

When I'm travelling I try to avoid touristic places and I want to live as a local: that's why I'm on CS, not just to have a free accomodation (that should be the purpose of everybody here).
If you are that kind of person you better don't send me a couch request!

Interests

I love photography, this is my greatest passion. I'm trying to become a wedding & lifestyle professional photographer but for now I still need another job to make a living.
If you'd like to see my work follow me on Instagram: @silviasala92 and @silviasalaphotography

I love anthropology, I like to discover new places, meet people from different countries with different culture, languages and habits. I'm fascinated by people who have a different point of view: it makes me rich to speak with others.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot of books and bookshops are one of the most interesting places to see when I travel. I buy a lot of books that sometimes I don't even read. In Japan they call this strange "obsession" 積読 (Tsundoku).
I also watch many TV series and I love cinema and music: actually I love every kind of art.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- 2 months travel in Japan (March-April 2014)
- 2 months travel in France, Spain and Portugal (July-August 2016)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you something about photography.
Of course I can teach you italian, italian culture and italian cuisine (very important!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you come to Italy I can teach you some Italian or how to cook italian food. If cooking is not your favourite activity, we just can have a tour in venetian "bacari" (typical venetian pubs) drinking Spritz or Prosecco wine, while having delicious finger food. We can visit the most interesting places (away from the mass tourism) and I can tell you interesting stories about Venice, if I'm not too busy working ;(

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
