About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"Be not inhospitable to strangers, lest they be angels in disguise."
ABOUT ME
I lived in Cuba and Venezuela until I was 12, when I came to the States with my family, so my childhood was pretty interesting. Having experiences like these so early in life really teaches you to become more inclusive and open minded, so that's how I try to carry myself in the presence of others.
I have a genuine curiosity of the world and its lovely inhabitants; I guess that a lot of us on this site can relate to this feeling...
A lot of my social interactions revolve around food--I love to experience a culture through its gastronomy. I also believe that food brings people together, so if you want to take me to your favorite restaurant or cook me something from your country, I will love that. The sad thing is that my cooking abilities are not great, that's why I rely heavily on the talent of others :)
Music and dancing are also a huge part of my identity...I am Cuban, so I simply can't help myself. Every social gathering I experienced growing up involved some form of dancing, so I will take anyone up on the offer to check out a live music or dance venue.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on CS because I want to get to know people, even if it's for a short amount of time. If I host you - or you host me - I will want to spend time with you and hear your stories, share a good laugh, and take away a nice memory with me that goes beyond what we can capture in our cameras when we're traveling. I believe that by learning from each other, we can become better human beings, and that's what I want to accomplish here.
I was very active in the Miami CS community until fall of 2012 when I moved to Chicago to attend graduate school. As things got progressively busy, I had to put CS on a hiatus, but I'm excited to give it a go again in Chicago and around the world!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Whitewater rafting in Patagonia through the Andes...Once we passed the rapids and the stream was not so strong we jumped in the water and let the current float us down to the end...The feeling of letting nature take over and simply let yourself go was absolutely amazing! I also loved hiking through the Inca trail to get to the top of Huayna Picchu where you can see Machu Picchu's condor-like shape. Absolutely breathtaking (literally and figuratively).
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Bahamas, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam, Virgin Islands, U.S.
