About Me

Hello, my name is Sime.

My mum has a British passport, my grandmother has a Finnish passport, my grandfather grew up in Chile because of his Jewish origins and otherwise the Huguenots made sure that my passport said "Germany"... Did i confuse you? :)
What I mean by that: I feel European, democrat and love to travel through Europe and get to know foreign people, cultures and food.

In 2018 I had my first experiences with couchsurfers from Finland on a longboard tour (see my profile picture). And that was just great.
I'm a pretty relaxed person, try to enjoy life and not take it too seriously.
I'm just trying to collect a few things that I enjoy.
Things I've already found: eating, sleeping, reading, travelling, cooking, discovering new places, meeting friends...

I am studying History and German Literature at the University of Leipzig.
I'm interested in history, sports and music! And I like Scandinavia a lot.
So if you're from there, I'll definitely take you in :) Just kidding, your country of origin doesn't matter! An open-minded personality matters.

I haven't actively used Couchsurfing myself for a while because of Covid, but I can't wait to travel again this summer!
You are welcome in my apartment if you are a friendly, open and relaxed traveler.
I am very happy to offer you my large couch to sleep on.

I can be reached via Instagram _s.i.m.e_ , Whatsapp and Threema. If you don't have either, I could download Telegram. Just let me know.

Cheers, Sime

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many kinds of music, especially hip hop and rap from all over Europe.
From Marteria, Casper (from Germany) to Eminem and the Scandinavian artists JVG, Fronda and Ylvis to Beethoven, Schostakovich and Vivaldi...

Movies: I like things like "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", "Forrest Gump" or "The Tree of Life". I also enjoyed "The Crown", Downton Abbey and some dark Nordic crime series!

Books: "Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann" -Jonas Jonasson, Tolstoy (!!) ...and much more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After I finished school, I traveled across Europe by Interrail for a month. That was such a great experience!! From Helsinki via Narvik, Oslo, Marseille to Rome, Patras, Athens... via Sofia to Istanbul, Belgrade, Bar... Budapest, Vienna... 18 countries.
I think I learned a lot on this trip. Europe is so different and diverse - and I actually love every culture, every vibe of the diverse countries of Europe!

In 2019 I spontaneously flew to Marrakech and saw the Sahara from the back of a camel. Sounds chill, but it was damn uncomfortable. :) And I hiked the "Fishermans Trail" in Portugal. I slept on beaches for 10 days without a tent and had a lot of time to myself.

I am planning to travel to Poland, Slovakia and the Baltic States in the near future.

Teach, Learn, Share

To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of life!
~"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty"

The most dangerous worldview is the worldview of those who have not viewed the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Let's explore Leipzig together. I've only been living here since 2021 and often still feel like a tourist. I don't know what else you've heard about Saxony or East Germany, but a very open, left-wing society awaits you here in Leipzig. There is room for every individual - everyone is welcome!

Otherwise we can sit in a park or cafe and just chat a bit.
And when we run out of topics to talk about, I have Netflix and Amazon Prime... maybe you can show me your favorite movie? :)
