About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see what's next

ABOUT ME

I love to travel and see the places that other tourists miss. To give you a perspective on my priorities: I went through the Louvre in 45 minutes, but drove 3 hours to a restaurant with excellent risotto.

PHILOSOPHY

In 1994 my car broke down and I was walking on the highway to get help when an older couple stopped and gave me a ride to the next exit's gas station. Since that day, I have stopped to offer help to every single stranded motorist I have seen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Started off looking for a cheap place to stay and am learning that this community is so much more than that. I think I have a lot to offer and when I move back to New York this summer I expect to offer a place for anyone who needs it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Being a Peace Corps Volunteer I have found myself in a sleeping bag on plenty of floors. Usually those floors belonged to friends, but sometimes they were friends of friends. Bottom line, I know how to behave myself.

Interests

Music. Food. Photography. Writing. Exploring off the beaten path.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can hold my own in almost any conversation about music. Books, not so much.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ate the best ceviche in Lima. I have stood on the lowest point on Earth in Israel. I saw The Chemical Brothers at a bullfighting ring in Madrid. I was fascinated by Recoleta Necropolis in Buenos Aires. I lived in NYC for 5 years.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you ever find yourself in Quebec City, Canada after a night of drinking, find a street called Grande-Allee Est. Then find Chez Ashton for the best poutine. A native told me about it, now I am telling you.

Countries I’ve Visited
