About Me
Hi there,
My name is Simms and I come far beyond land and across the briny blue ocean.
I was raised in a large, nomadic, missionary family, I was born in the Philippines where I spent much of my developmental years and have also lived in India, and Pakistan.
As my parents were nomadic we were constantly traveling from city to city, province to provinces, island to island, and country to country.
I took from this upbringing a strong love for travel, exploration, discovery, and adventure. I moved to the United States when I was 24 and now live in the ChicagoLand area of Illinois.
I am by definition a third culture kid (TCK GTS)
I am a builder, shaman, artist, grand adventurer, and student of zen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing as a means to connect to the world around me and be inspired by stories of adventure and discovery. I first heard of Couchsurfing when still living in the Philippines and first encountered Couchsurfers through an acquaintance who hosts Couchsurfers. I first considered hosting while at burning man when a camp mate suggested it as a way to connect to other travelers and like minded people.
Interests
My interest are shamanism, herbal/natural medicine/healing, film (I studied to be a director), photography, food (I'll cook for you [provided I have the time and resources] and will eat what ever you cook), travel, exploration, discovery, animals, people, and life.
Music, Movies, and Books
I am an amateur electronic dj so I mainly listen to the types of music I play and dance to. I love any well made movie as I'm quite the critic and sucker for details. I read what ever will make me smarter or provide me with useful information and/or inspire me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Can't think of anything I've done that wasn't amazing... I awake each morning in glorious awe... and I in myself am amazing! :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I love exchanging information and stories.
