After the ice age of Covid I am back on Couchsurfing.

At the moment I am biking (on a tandem) with my friend Maarten from Lyon to Arles. It would be a pleasure to see you there !

CURRENT MISSION

I would like to live in the different dimensions of my life in adequacy with my values. Authenticity (trying to be true to oneself), empathy (the effort to understand the feelings and thinking of others) and respect (to bring consideration to others) are important "guidelines" to my actions.

ABOUT ME

I would like to use Couchsurfing to meet, discuss and learn from others while traveling and in Brussels. I do my best with my strengths and weaknesses to be open-minded, to enjoy myself and to bring pleasure to others. Having a positive impact at my scale in my personal life and in my work is important to me.

Je voudrais utiliser CS pour rencontrer, discuter et apprendre des autres tant en voyage qu'à Bruxelles. Je fais de mon mieux avec mes forces et mes faiblesses pour être ouvert d'esprit, prendre du plaisir et en apporter aux autres. J'aimerais avoir un impact positif à mon échelle que ce soit dans ma vie personnelle ou dans mon travail.

ABOUT MAARTEN

Maarten is a childhood friend. We are both Belgian (with a different mothertongue) but we met in Lille. He's pleasant to be around, helpful and a good listener. After seeing each other only occasionally over the last few years, we decided to travel on a tandem between Lyons and Arles with the idea of joining his parents in Corsica.

Maarten est un ami d'enfance. Tous deux Belges d'origine (mais de langue maternelle différentes), nous nous sommes rencontrés à Lille. Il est agréable à vivre, serviable et à l'écoute. Alors que nous nous sommes vues de manière épisodique ces dernières années, nous avons décidé de voyager en tandem entre Lyon et Arles dans l'idée de rejoindre ses parents en Corses.

PHILOSOPHY

Saving the world is only worth it if we enjoy our lives.

I would like to feel satisfied and peaceful on my deathbed whether it is tomorrow or in 60 years.

Ça vaut bien la peine de sauver le monde si on n'y prend pas de plaisir hehe.

Je voudrais me sentir satisfait et paisible sur mon lit de mort que ça soit demain ou dans 60 ans.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I traveled many times with CS.

In 2018 I traveled through Europe (mainly through Serbia, Bulgaria and Hungary but also Italy and Slovenia) so I thought it would be interesting to meet people on my way.

In August 2019, I biked with my brother (on a tandem) on the Rhine from Bonn to Strasbourg

This summer (August 2023), I am traveling from Lyon to Arles on a tandem with my friend Maarten.

Interests

Environment and Energy:

I am passionated about these areas. In my humble opinion, these are essential aspects for human societies (and our quality of life) and I enjoy learning and working as well on the legal aspects as on the technical aspects.

Ce sont des domaines qui me passionnent. De mon humble opinion, ce sont des aspects essentiels pour les sociétés humaines (et notre qualité de vie) et j'ai beaucoup de plaisir à apprendre et à travailler tant sur les aspects techniques que juridiques.

Food:

I like to discuss with a good meal (and if it is the occasion, accompagnied with a good wine or beer).

une des situations principales où j'aime bien discuter c'est autour d'un bon repas (et si cela se met accompagné d'un bon vin ou d'une bonne bière)

Tandem :

my favorite way of traveling is with a tandem (biking), I did that on the Rhine, through Wallonia, through South Korea and finally this year in France. It has several advantages. You spend quality time with close people, you see the country as it is and at the end of the day you feel you've earned your meal. What more could you ask for?

Music, Movies, and Books

I like different kinds of music like Reggae (like Naaman, Protoje, Chronixx...) or Rock ( with The Doors, The Who, the Clash or the Arctic Monkeys). My favourite film is American Beauty which is mind-blowing about human life and its purpose.
About books, I am young so it will probably change but so far my favourite authors are Dostoïevsky, Malraux and Balzac

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Simply meeting new nice and interessant people or having good conversations with relatives

Teach, Learn, Share

We can share a meal from each other countries. Of course it would also be nice to discover the place where we are. I can teach the languages I know and talk about Belgium. Also we could simply share a beer !

What I Can Share with Hosts

The easiest thing I can share is a good conversation. With my future hosts It would be awesome to talk about each other lives and share our experiences and crazy stories. I am also able to bring some food or to help with the house.
