About Me

I grew up in the South West of England before studying History & Literature at Edinburgh University from 2013-2017. Whilst in Edinburgh I lived in a 106 person housing cooperative/intentional community, and co-managed a community space/arts charity called 'The Forest'.

I recently moved to Copenhagen to study for a Masters in Migration Studies. I'm currently working on a sustainable mushroom farm, and volunteering between a non-profit radical bookstore and a international cinema.

I'm very cool with sleeping on the floor, or curled up in a corner somewhere - and I really don't expect much luxury.

I've met some wonderful friends through Couchsurfing (and generally having an open door to strangers), and it's always been such a great chance to bump into new people from all over the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whenever I have free space where I'm living it's been a great opportunity to meet new friends, and to share food, music, and stories with people I might otherwise not have met.

Couchsurfing can be a really cool way for people to take part in a new community and to learn more about another culture or group of people. I think it's so important that both hosts and guests recognise that this is not just a "free AirBnB" but an international network of people who are trying to put ideals of openness, mutual support, and unconditional kindness into practice.

Whenever I stay with someone I expect to help out around their house, to cook a meal or two, and to give back for what I have received.

Interests

Live music, politics, volunteering, journalism, walking up hills, taking pictures of hills, sitting on hills, flying my kite on a hill, having a sandwich on a hill, walking back down the hill, anything with hills I guess.

I play guitar to a fairly good level and enjoy playing with others, there's a couple in my flat so if you'd like to jam you're very welcome.

I studied History and English Literature at the University of Edinburgh from 2013-2017, and I'm currently studying for a Masters in Migration Studies at the University of Copenhagen. If you want to geek out together I love chatting about social and diplomatic history, peacebuilding, migration & refugee issues, poststructuralism, and postcolonial studies.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: blues, punk, post-rock and folk

Movies: I ran a 'Sheep and Goat Film Festival' at the housing co-operative once...

Authors: Joyce, T.S Eliot, Keats, Świrszczyńska, Irving, Yeats, Césaire, Williams.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Age 4: I played a very convincing sheep in the school play.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - local history, homemade pizza, beginners guitar, English

Learn - anything you'd like to teach

Share - if I'm not too busy I can cook for us, you're welcome to hang out with my friends and I'll point you in the direction of anything fun that's going on in town.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a background in proofreading and editing and can help you with writing a CV, sorting out any language problems in your schoolwork, or giving feedback on anything that's scribbled in words.

I'm a pretty great cook and I love making big meals, so I'd love to cook something (vegetarian/vegan) for your flat. I think pizza, lasagne, risotto, stews, soups, and vege-fajitas are probably my favourite to cook en-masse.

I like fixing things, and if you have a rusty bike or something else that's falling apart I can take a look at it.

I also love playing music together, so if you've got an extra guitar lying around it'd be cool to jam one night.
